This article explains the origins of title and debunks the fact that Mrs. Is just about marital status.

It appears that it's a fairly recent use as a marital prefix and previously Mistress, Mrs and Miss were interchangeable and restricted to the upper class. Quite a fascinating subject you've raised and being called Mrs. Puts you in the upper class bracket 😱

Fascinating it may well be, but I was referring to its use in present times 🙂

Have we had "like" yet? Not: I like going to the cinema. But, like, like, people who like, can't even like get to, like, even like the end of like just a like sentence without like saying the word "like" like so many times?

Holidays for the period over Christmas

Imported from the good old US of A where they have a holiday for thanksgiving and another for Christmas day (hence the word holiday becoming plural)

It's especially noticeable in big corporation adverts (just for the heck of it 😱)

Whilst Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday, it's not a national holiday so thanksgiving , Christmas day are the chief drivers and Hanukkah is possibly also thrown into the mix in America

Over here we class it as the Christmas holiday and not the oh so American expression of Holidays

Did they all read Biggles books when they were young?

He was always opining or similar. He never actually just "said" anything ....

Well it was started by someone who would fit that mould.

    • ...and so, 4 years on from the "dramatic planning meeting" that approved the "meganursery", how has it all worked out in reality? The building looks nice from the outside - but I don't know anything more. Did either of the nursery businesses on EDG fail because there was no demand for nursery places in East Dulwich? Did Carmageddon on East Dulwich Grove get worse? Were pre-COVID work patterns abandoned forever (lol)? Were some of the concerns expressed in opposition to the planning application a teensy bit overblown...? https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/southwark/mega-nursery-approved-amid-dramatic-planning-meeting/
    • If I don’t feed the birds, they’ve actually come and perched on the fence and stared directly at me through the window. The squirrels do that too.
    • Reading The words 'Artisan'  and 'Curated' when refering to my 'Breakfast Bundle' frankly make me feel a bit..🤢
    • I would recommend Coopers bakehouse, which offer a similar service to B&C but it’s just focussed on really good bread, decent prices and keeps for ages (also freezes well).  Delivered by bike.
