Hello guys,

Okay so some people on here are aware that theres been a few changes happening in my life....

Now I am very pleased to say that over the past six days I have proved myself hugely resourceful... both practically and emotionally.

BUT and its a big but - I have an achilles heel. I can't or to be honest won't do DIY.

I have moved into a small room in a house with a friend....and have bought a single piece of art to mark the occasion. Could someone hang it - my friend can't help as she asks my (soon to be ex) to hang all her paintings. For a bottle of wine would someone bring round a hammer (or drill or whatever one requires) and put up my rather significant new piece?

Pms please... and any discussion advice you have to offer is welcome too on this thread.

Thank you so much Giggirl and Moos for your kind words.

It makes such a huge difference to actually customise a room... I imagine it's why teenagers spend so much time organising what's on their walls. I'm rather liking the idea of being a grown up teenager!

Seriously I left before and spent six months refusing to do anything to my room in a shared house - cause it was temporary until I found a place of my own. No wonder I got depressed and gave up - my new philosophy is that this new place is my home, maybe for a week, maybe a month, maybe six months... and that making the effort to get my single room welcoming and lovely is a real act of healing and moving on.

Hoorah!

Dearest BB - sorry but I retract my earlier offer. It's for your own good. My mate saw it and said that it sounded like you'd been in the wars enough already without me coming round and laying some dodgy DIY on you.

There are other things at which I excell. Buying a round for example - I'm always good for that.

Oh Chav I think I will stick with finding out about masonary nails for the time being....unless that was a euphemism? I'm such a innocent (she says with wide eyes and her usual butter wouldn't melt expression)

Giggirl - fair enuff, if u r coming on Friday mine will be a gin and tonic!

    • What a bunch of pieholes. 2025 and you peasants have nothing to be grateful for. I have been inside the library recently and honestly the old girl is crying for a facelift, the goddamn carpet looks like it survived the world war and some. The Library is one of the oldest in Southwark and you are crying about a study place? What a bunch of bullshit. You have libraries all around you for your kids to go their studying you rotten sausage. How about be happy that the library is going to look absolutely stunning rather than be a whining bitch about it   Also, I have been told that the staffs have to work in the smaller libraries together. How do you think they feel?
    • I would like to recommend Aaron, who has just finished 5 days plastering work in my house. He is professional , polite, tidy, punctual and reliable. He did a fantastic job, a good price and a top quality finish. Highly recommended! Aaron Manser 07773 410661
    • Sadly, but not unreasonably, councils find it difficult to justify such expenditure on their current budgets. My family, which does like fireworks have been enjoying the displays by those still with disposable wealth by viewing them from Hilly Fields. Other hills (Dawson Heights) are available. For children who have autumn and winter birthdays, a firework display is some consolation for their birthday climate. My grandchildren, being summer babies, can enjoy garden parties and picnics. Without the need for explosions and dazzling display.
