This is what you get for spending a Sunday evening on YouTube, with two glasses of wine on an empty stomach.

I was at this gig and it was about a hundred years ago ...

It was an Amnesty International gig at the London Paladium some time in the early 80s. I can actually remember what I wore. I can remember where we went for dinner afterwards (Sticky Fingers in Kensington - just opened). I was barely speaking to my boyfriend - we were having a lovers tiff. I could tell you the actual year if I could be arsed to go to the attic to look in my ticket stubbs box. I think Erasure and Lenny Henry were also on the bill. Erasure on the same bill as David Gilmour!

I'm mailing this thread to my best friend in Brighton - it really upsets him that I got to see Kate Bush and he didn't (and Nico too love). Kiss kiss (I love you).

You can get "Frownies" patches at the much maligned Dr Boo shop. Yes, I was even prepared to go into something called "Dr Boo", situated next to a replica sweetshop, Disney Victoriana-style, in order to buy these. They work. Stick em on your forehead (or area of your choosing) and the wrinkles disappear after about 3 hours. The effect is temporary but at least you are not injecting cocktail of unknown chemicals into bloodstream (although I know a lot of people around here pay to do that, too).

My hot Frownies tip, though, do not forget if you put one on in the morning in order to get the benefit by evening, and then go out to corner shop, unless you are lucky enough to live in Nunhead, where we had ladies who went about in their curlers until quite recently, and very little causes comment.

By the way will mention as has been much criticism of Dr Boo shop for being snooty, that as an ageing pasty overweight pauper with congenital scruff hair and dressed head to foot from ebay, they have always been lovely and helpful to me, although possibly they may see this as a social service and have dispensed entirely with their usual customer-assessment criteria.

I think the difference between one go of Botox and one box Frownies is about ?200 so feel free to offer me bottle of wine from proceeds.

    • I think it's a good idea and follows the example of other towns/areas. As it says in the article, the area around the main tourist attractions in Southwark, that is The Globe, Southwark Cathedral, Tate Modern and the whole walking route from London Bridge to Blackfriars, takes a lot of maintaining and it shouldn't be a burden on regular council tax payers like us.
