Hello,

I started a post like this previously for wedding venues and we think we have found our reception venue here in ED but are currently struggling to find a ceremony venue.

We need somewhere that will hold 80 people

We need a Saturday hire

I've looked at Beauberry house but they don't accept bookings for ceremony only until 3 months before your chosen date which is just cutting to too fine. From what I can find Southwark registry office only seats 40. I think Marylebone is too far away to make everyone travel in Saturday traffic (reception in ED). Horniman is lovely but only do Friday and very pricey!! Does anyone else have any ideas??? We are getting married in winter so venues seem more interested in ceremony only hire I just can't find one that ticks the above boxes.

Thanks a lot

Another vote for dulwich college? Had the old library, a 2 hour slot is the most basic option so enough time to decorate and a little hanging around after to get people in cars and maybe take a few snaps. They were lovely to deal with. But it's not cheap in my opinion.

    • Ah sorry, it was comedy.
    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
