A number of years ago as a local Councillor we did exactly this via the CGS funding stream. From memory local schools were offered them for free. Don't recall whether any local businesses took up the offer.

The council official would have ben Andrea Allen.

Would it not be best for them to be placed in properties that are likely to be open the longest hours, such as CoOp, EDT, M and S, the small Sainsbury's? Those places are also pretty corporate (EDT is part of a small chain, no?) and would have someone who would, I hope, be across the niceties such as upkeep and training, liabilities, etc.
Places open 24/7 are the best for obvious reasons - Sainsbury's might even fund one if asked? Monica I have sent a private message with the recommendation of the product - it is around ?1000 and there will be other suppliers. I was told a first-timer with no experience would pretty-much be able to use!
Heartblock - you were very interested in this so why don't you start a thread and get folk to put in their (checked) locations? It is so easy to say "why don't we" and then hope someone else will pick up on one's brilliant idea and do the slog! This could be your way to help someone for very little initial time invested. (I am not that invested to do it myself and never suggested it in the first place.)

Thank you for the suggestion Nigello, but as many of us like to do - when I have downtime I would rather not be involved with my past daily practice for over 35 years.

Happy to help Monica privately as she requested. As you appear to not like my input and have added an unnecessary and caustic remark I will withdraw from this thread and just contact Monica privately.

Maybe you should reflect on how you sometimes address people who do offer advise and help.

Iv just spoken with the CcOp head office who have confirmed we can place the defibrillator at the ED store, apparently they do have in-store defibrillators in other community CoOp stores.

I can start a justgiving fund page, post the link on here and hopefully we can raise enough to buy the Defibrillator.

A couple of the forumites who have contacts within the community are going to help purchase one.

Il keep you updated.

Edited due to glasses not working properly

Thank you for all of the messages regarding the Defibrillator.

Can anyone help with a name for the funding page? It needs to represent what we are doing, raising funds for a Defibrillator for the Lordship Lane area.

All ideas for names are welcome.

Thanks

There is a charity that I heard of on Today on Wednesday. Perhaps they woudl be able to help you, given they are already funded and maybe would be able to provide one.

https://www.communityheartbeat.org.uk/ - I think this was it.

There is also https://londonhearts.org/ and others - just do a search for more.

    • I can't recommend Leon too highly.  He provides a first-rate service.  He's friendly but also professional.  He sorted out my extractor fan which  was running incessantly because another electrician had bodged it. At the same time he saved me buying a new shaver unit which had stopped working when the extractor wouldn't stop running. He was also uncomplaining about having to to go up and down 3 flights of stairs between the bathroom and the electrical power unit. He will definitely be my first port of call for any future electrical issues.  His contact number is: 07707 925039.

    • of course most people would avoid the "stupid" term - but I'm sticking with it fact is no other European would be so dumb, and even with the same information, the  same media, the same everything, 2 of the countries within the UK saw ho stupid an idea it was - but only the English (who played a large part in the Welsh result) pushed ahead - there is something defiantly arrogant and stupid and it isn't just down to bad info and bad leadership But that was all 2016 - it's people in 2025 who claim it to be a good idea executed badly who are especially stupid Now - does calling people stupid help anyone? It's not especially politically gainful and just gets peoples' backs up - but it remains a truth and only when the country as a whole genuinely holds it's hands up and admits the stupidity (rather than downplaying it as a poor decision - no shade meant Mal - you are just nicer and politer than me) will it begin. to turn the tide Also worth mentioning that yes I am as intractable and blunt with friends and family who voted Leave as well - this isn't me hiding behind some online anonymous account. This is what I'm like
    • Hello My name is Lizzie and I work locally as a dog walker and nanny. I won’t be needed over Summer so will have full availability for a dogsitting job. I have a DBS certificate and will provide several dogsitting references as well. Please note that I can only watch your pet at your home since they are sadly not allowed in my flat! Looking forward to hear from you
