I recently had my kitchen fitted (look at photos) by a Carpenter (Jon) who I cannot recommend highly enough.

We got got his number from a family friend who also had their kitchen fitted by him before Christmas.

He is well presented, organised, tidy and very reliable.

We also found that his prices were very reasonable compared with other estimates we had from other fitters.

His number is 07545456422

Jon asked me to post a message on here after I found him on East Dulwich Forum

I needed a carpenter to fit new spindles, newell post and hand rail.

The quote he gave me was reasonable and the workmanship was out standing.

I will be using him again to fit my doors and wardrobes in the near future.

His number is 07545456422

John is a well known family friend of my family, he has carried out various work over the years for me and my friends, such as fitting a new kitchen to the odd small job

He is polite and trustworthy

He has asked me to post some of the photos of his work

I would always recommend him to anyone.

"John is a true gentleman"

I found John on this forum last night.

I urgently needed a carpenter to fit a new back door as my house was broken into on Thursday evening while I was out for dinner with my wife.

I rang John and he come round the same evening (11pm) to secure the back door for the night as there was nowhere open for him to get a new one to fit. Jon came round the next morning and fitted a new back door that I chose the night before. He also repaired the door frame and fitted a insurance approved lock that my insurance company asked to be fitted. I was extremely happy with the work and I was very pleased with what he charged me.

I have also asked John to supply and fit all my doors and locks downstairs, he is coming round next week to carry out that job.

Very polite and highly recommended

John has just finished the doors I asked him to fit last week...he was here yesterday and today. Just as before I am extremely happy with the work and how tidy he managed to keep the place.

I have already passed his number on to a few of the parents at my children's school.

"Keep up the hard work John"

Many thanks

Jon asked me to put a little comment on here today as a little favour I owe him.

Iv known Jon for about 6months now, my partner and i first met him when my neighbour was having her soffits and facias redone. Jon told me that he was a carpenter and did other various jobs.

After showing Jon a rough sketch of what I had in mind we asked him to give us a quote to build some cupboards between out chimney breast in our living room.

My husband and I were very pleased of the work. Even when we have visitors round, they to comment on how brilliant the cupboards look (especially in the dark when the under shelf LEDs come on)...wow!

Iv uploaded the photos of the work he carried out.

Thanks Jon

John come round today to look at my leaking roof. I needed a seconded opinion as I had been quoted over ?5000 from two roofing companies saying I needed my roof re tiled? They told me that sum without even investigating the problem.

After telling John the problem the first thing he did was climb on the roof using his ladders, he took a photo and said I had two or three cracked tiles (see photos he showed me) right above the leak in my front bedroom. He popped out for half hour to buy 3 new tiles before coming back to replace the cracked ones (see photos he showed me). It rained today, and i have had no further leak patches in my bedroom

He charged me a extremely reasonable sum of money for the repair, better still his honesty saved me paying out over ?5000 so I gave him a extra ?20

I also found out while he was round today that he does many various jobs including installing sliding wardrobes, I have accepted his estimate and he is coming round in the next couple of weeks to do them once the wardrobes are in stock.

Thank You John

Johnathon has been a real star! He came round and helped me plan my new kitchen and came up with a brilliant solution to my never-ending problem of my bedroom blind. He made a made-to-measure, easy to operate simple blind - and wouldn't take any money for it! I highly reccomend his sevices.

Another recommendation for Jonathan who has recently fitted my kitchen and bathroom.

He beat the quote I received from Bells kitchen and bathroom in Lordship Lane by a considerable amount.

Once again he has another happy customer.

Thank you for the hard work from you and your team.

My next door neighbour Kate has asked me to put this up As she doesn't have an account...(she didn't understand the instructions you gave her)

John has made a lovely job of my staircase, he replaced all the handrail and spindles including

Over lapping my existing staircase in oak timber. The work has transformed my hallway.

Great job, i will pass your number on to my friends. :)

    • Having enjoyed a day with Sayce HolmesLewis, I understand what you’re saying.  I appreciate your courage responding on here.
    • Thank you to everyone who has already shared their thoughts on this. Dawson Heights Estate in the 1980s, while not as infamous as some other estates, did have its share of anti-social behaviour and petty crime. My brother often used the estate as a shortcut when coming home from his girlfriend’s house, despite my parents warning him many times to avoid it. Policing during that era had a distinctly “tough on crime” approach. Teenagers, particularly those from working-class areas or minority communities, were routinely stopped, questioned, and in some cases, physically handled for minor infractions like loitering, skateboarding, or underage drinking. Respect for authority wasn’t just expected—it was demanded. Talking back to a police officer could escalate a situation very quickly, often with harsh consequences. This was a very different time. There were no body cameras, dash cams, or social media to hold anyone accountable or to provide a record of encounters. Policing was far more physical and immediate, with few technological safeguards to check officer behaviour. My brother wasn’t known to the police. He held a full-time job at the Army and Navy store in Lewisham and had recently been accepted into the army. Yet, on that night, he ran—not because he was guilty of anything—but because he knew exactly what would happen if he were caught on an estate late at night with a group of other boys. He was scared, and rightfully so.
    • I'm sure many people would look to see if someone needed help, and if so would do something about it, and at least phone the police if necessary if they didn't feel confident helping directly. At least I hope so. I'm sorry you don't feel safe, but surely ED isn't any less safe than most places. It's hardly a hotbed of crime, it's just that people don't post on here if nothing has happened! And before that, there were no highwaymen,  or any murders at all .... In what way exactly have we become "a soft apologetic society", whatever that means?
