SeanMacGabhann
I totally agree with the first sentence of yours BN5 - but isn't that the opposite of what Blair is saying?I genuinely admire your pragmatic stance as you've described in your own work - but I don't see that reflected in Blair's actions - I don't see a distasteful action taken despite "better judgement" - I see, not only a lack of judgement, an inability to make a courageous decision and a fall-back on "faith" reasons - but a wanton disregard for evidence, the consideration of others or anything approaching "reason"But I could be equally na?ve Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2979--/page/2/#findComment-92878 Share on other sites

dulwichmum
Oh Sean darling (sigh) you are never naive, just manly and handsome.Leave poor Tony alone, he has a young son and he is simply trying to ensure that he gets into a good local state school. No-body in their right mind could be a genuine Roman Catholic, could they? There is a group on Facebook for recovering Roman Catholics. So many people feel too guilty to join! Now I know it was common knowledge that he was fully intent on going RC, and allegedly did not do so at the time for political expediency (fear of p!ssing off the N.Ireland Unionist community). It just seems rather odd - either you BELIEVE as a Catholic or you don't - it's pretty fundamental really. SeanMacGabhann
he's not going away anytime soonOur Tonemy favourite bit is:"But he adds: "The worst thing in politics is when you're so scared of losing support that you don't do what you think is the right thing. What faith can do is not tell you what is right but give you the strength to do it."You see, in my book, when you've lost support, it could just be because you are wrong and your time would better be spent reflecting on how to get out of the mess.. but apparantly it's better to turn to your invisible friend and find a way to plough on regardless ... david_carnell
My morning news bulletin described his aim as "spending the rest of his life trying to unite the world's religions" - so nothing too challenging then.Meanwhile the current brooding inhabitant of no10 is calling random members of the public at 6am to discuss their problems. One didn't listen to his electorate, the other is getting them out of bed to try.
