I have a darling friend who is attending EDF drinks with me tonight... as part of my attempt to lure him from Sheffield to be my partner-in-crime in London.

Now - the deal-breaker, well not really - but a slight concern expresed to me is whether or not he is likely to meet the man of his dreams in East Dulwich. (Can I add that he has cheekbones to die for, and is himself the man of many men's dreams) .... and so I am wondering if Rainbow drinks do still exist? Certainly it was an idea knocking around last year .... did they happen, are they still happening ... and if so, can someone new join your gang?

Sunday breakfast opening at "Fire", although that seems to be rather more GHB and ketamine than drinks and light-hearted chat with perfect man...

I'll let you know - we'll be there next weekend.

Word has it that there are plans afoot for Fire to 'go straight', as it happens.. what is the world coming to?!

Oh KalamityKel my love - I know only too well ... But if there was such a thing as a perfect man he would of course be gay...

Sigh.

Are you allowed to say Homos these days, I thought that was not considered PC. Aren't we supposed to say gay??

It's a potential minefield, Attila.

'Gay' is always your best bet at the time of writing. 'Gays' is ok too, but not 'The Gays' - which isn't.

'Queer' is fine too (since 'Queer as Folk' has been aired - you can't really complain) - but it sounds better coming from the gays themselves, not normal people.

'Bummer' is (apparently) ok if you listen Chris Moyles and read FHM. So they say.

'Faggot' is still out though, I'm afraid - though still very popular in many parts of America.

Personally I think it's time that 'fruit' made a comeback.

    • I am  ill in bed with Covid. It's not that I "can't be bothered" to read things. I am feeling crap and don't have the mental  energy at the moment. I am not "brushing stuff aside and pleading ignorance." I am truthfully saying when I don't presently know enough about something to be able to comment. I have always been very careful to try to  differentiate between fact and opinion in both  my posts and other people's, and I am not clear what your point is. And I am certainly not trying to wind anybody up. This is a forum. If you don't want to respond to my posts, that's up to you. I'm not sure why you feel the need to announce it.
    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
