Recommended fashion glasses shop?

Recommended Posts

Hi there

I'm looking to buy some new glasses frames and would like to buy non branded or original looking specs. There are some good shops such as opera opera in covent garden but charge around ?300-400 for just the frames. They look fab but wondered if anyone could recommend a cheaper alternative either near east dulwich or elsewhere in London?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi,

For a few years now I've bought mine online. For designer frames it is usually under ?100 including prescription& thinner lenses.

Just go to D&A or Vision Express, get your test done and and ask for a copy of your prescription. Choose your frames and note down the number. Then go to an online retailer and put in the code, voila! Save ?300!!

I've used these guys before http://www.selectspecs.com/ - I'll warn you, customer service is non-existent and you can wait two to three weeks but they do turn up. (I've also had lenses from them tested and they were apparently of excellent quality)

Hope this helps!

Be very careful if you have varifocals though.

I used to get my specs online, but it's obviously very hard to get the lenses right if they are going by photos etc.

And they didn't .... twice.

Often they'll have a long list of previous, so police are picking the low hanging fruit. And because legal aid solicitors and barristers' pay is now so anaemic, they simply don't have the time to work a case and defend it properly. So you probably see more people behind bars than there should be.  It started with Brown and then got way worse with Cameron, when he essentially tried to turn legal aid firms into giant call centres and put the contracts out to tender. Even since then, the system gets squeezed more every year.
