Just a note to say that I had a great pre theatre dinner at this, relatively, new brasserie near Piccadilly Circus. It had a great buzzy atmosphere, fantastic service, a fairly small and affordable menu of brasserie classics.

Asanadded bonus there was a pianist and, later, there was to be a jazz singer in a small adjacent bar with stage and also a properly dark and romantic cocktail bar.

Give it a go - they deliberately keep a number of tables unreserved for walk ins.

If you were to read the post it's in Piccadilly Circus - hence posting in the Lounge as a matter of interest not related to East Dulwich. I make the remarkable assumption that those of us that live in / near East Dulwich occasionally venture outside its confines.

As for it being a paid advert - buck up. I've been posting on here for > 4 years with nary a hint of a paid nterest.

The food sounds great, but yeah... tinkling jazz piano... not good.

Don't worry, you'll be fine, there are plenty of us SE5 dwellers here. You're even getting the hang of the local lingo ("Denmark Hill" sounds so much more pleasant than "Camberwell").

Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
