Weird smell on Ulverscoft road

Has anyone noticed a pungent scent at the very beginning of Ulverscroft road (the end closest to NorthCross road)?

It isn't very nice! Hmmm...?

misterdulwich, welcome to the forum. Do you have any more specific descriptors for the odour you experienced?

Thanks for the kind welcome, ianr. To be specific, the smell has been lingering for a couple of weeks now, if not longer. It's an unpleasantly bitter odour, with sharp notes of sour rot. I recommend having a whiff for yourself as it is quite hard to describe. @DulwichFox have you any idea as to what it could be?

I Live at the Whately Rd end of Ulverscroft..

There is often bad smells at the Northcross rd. end. Stale/Old oil possibly from Chip Shop waft in the air.

Other food smells on Market day can be very unpleasant but do not reach my end.

Discarded Fish boxes left opposite the Palmerston over night..

Thanks Foxy, but this particular smell tends to be outside the hairdressers on Northcross road. Unusual for hairdressers, and I'm sure it's in no way linked. However, I do think it needs investigating further...

Perm solution and hair bleach/tints does smell of ammonia so it could be thar.

The hairdresser's on North Cross Road is nowhere near Ulverscroft Road.

I have never noticed any smell outside it.

What I do notice however is a persistent faint smell of gas on North Cross Road at the mural end, near Superdrug.

I have been meaning to report it for weeks.

Yes, it?s a barbers, advertises cuts for men and women. No use of smelly chemicals

Apologies, I meant outside the barbers. However, I have always used the terms' hairdressers' and 'barbers' interchangeably - is that wrong? What are the differences? Who cares? Perhaps that's a topic for another thread... But for now, the scent still doth linger and spoil the fragrance of festive cheer! Bah Humbug!

Yes!! It abated for a while, and is now back with a vengeance. It smells like vomit to me.

There is a litter bit that often has other refuse placed outside it. COuld it be that?

That smell has been there for at least two years - it's certainly not the chip shop or the barber shop, it smells more like rotten compost.

I have never seen any berries on the ginko trees planted in East Dulwich, so I presume they are male.

I'm so sorry, I think the issue could be down to my small dog, or otherwise, me. He is a black terrier cross, and I'm blonde and about 5'7". He has a constipation problem and walks like a gunslinger while I have the opposite and shuffle like I'm trying to post letters on the Generation Game. If you recognise our description approach with caution, as by Underhill Road anything could blow at any time.

I've reported gas smell, they will investigate within the hour.
