Two British comedies that I quite enjoyed recently..

Breeders....with Martin Freeman...the grandad character cracks me up...but I think it's only accessible on sky.

After Life by Ricky gervais...has some great amusing moment. But to be fair, also some quite harrowing moments...it's a 'comedy' about a guy trying to cope after his wife passes away. Is on netflix

Comedy recommendations are super-subjective... but - I really enjoyed This Country. It's not the best thing ever but if you stick with it, it has a nice narrative arc.

Also - Back to Life with Daisy Haggard, two series available on iPlayer. The first one is excellent, the second one merely quite good.

If you don't mind subtitles, Call My Agent/Dix pour Cent is great and on Netflix. More of a comedy/drama/soap, very watchable.

I thought This Country was good, if you don't mind the docu/comedy format worth giving it a try.

I'd second Two Doors Down if you like gentle/observational humour, recently watched the Christmas special so should be available on iPlayer.

Detectorists is in a similar vein, again should be available on iPlayer...

I can second Alma's not normal, but it has a bittersweet quality too

Staged may be available on bbc iplayer-loved it

Yes! I didn't think it would be my sort of thing at all, but I binged after watching one!

The Marvellous Mrs Maisel is great, series 4 just started on Prime. Wouldn?t have chosen it from the description (female comic starting her career in 1950s Mew York) but it?s really funny. 50 minute episodes though so might not meet the ?relatively short? criteria.

Stolen on a whim, for mischief, for profit or as a bait dog to train fighters. A thief might abandon them shortly afterwards, but the heartbreak and confusion is already done and a reunion not guaranteed.
    • It's a terrible idea, will damage trade in Forest Hill Road and is just creating a nice private road for someone to enjoy. Congestion in the road is caused mainly by delivery vans, well, let's help stamp out those scourges. And an 18 month trial is at least a year too long if you are just interested in judging impact. And there has been no consultation at all, save, perhaps, with the privileged Rydale-ers. I live a block away in Underhill and I've heard only via social media.

They’ll put together a workout plan with a personal trainer if you need it. You can use their super high-tech e-gym equipment or free weights as you wish. The cardio area is excellent too. There are no issues with overcrowding or ‘meat heads’ hogging the equipment either. I cannot recommend FitFor highly enough. It’s affordable too which is a big bonus. Good luck with your health plan for 2026 !
