To the poor Deliveroo driver who was nearly hit by a highway maintenance lorry driver at 12.30pm today (Harvester Junction), I hope you are okay and not too shocked.

I have reported to the police. Crime number: 966-57-22-0101-WE.

There were many witnesses. Please take time to report: https://www.met.police.uk/ro/report/rti/rti-a/report-a-road-traffic-incident/

The registration number of the lorry is HL 21 PZF

I have rarely seen such appalling driving.

The feedback I got when enquiring about a crossing was basically 'we couldn't possibly slow down the traffic, this is the south circular you know'

There was a consultation and as a result it was definitely agreed that a crossing would be installed there.

There is a thread on here about it a while back.

The zebra crossing that wasn't really needed on Whateley Road is much more important. I've never seen anyone use it yet though.

The last update I saw was that TFL "tentatively" had scheduled work on the crossing around Lordship Lane/Dulwich Common to start in late 2020. However, the project has fallen off the TFL list of open or closed projects, because they now only list projects from May 2021, which I suspect means the project is no longer going ahead. So frustrating.

Agreed! What a complete waste of money 🤨

For anyone who wants an update on the long-planned pedestrian crossing point at Lordship Lane/Dulwich Common, I got this response to an FOI request from TFL today:

We can confirm that the project you have asked about is currently paused due to a lack of long-term funding from the Department of Transport, with TfL?s current funding allocation ending on 18 February 2022. We hope to resume the project after this date, should funding be available, with construction in spring 2023 subject to acquisition of a small piece of land required to deliver the project.
Thanks for the update Siduhe, much appreciated. I'd really like to see this pedestrain crossing completed soon. I feel like I am gambling my life every time I want to cross the road to reach the Cox's Walk entrance from the opposite side on Lordship Lane. Is it even worth it writing to the local MP, Helen Hayes about that?

zerkalo, very welcome - it's a subject close to my heart.

What really comes out to me from the TFL response is that this is all about funding (and the news that they have to buy some land to make the crossing work - presumably a bit by Cox's Walk to expand the pedestrian area, but who knows?).

There's no way TFL is going to have the full funding in the near future - 2023 seems aspirational at best. What might make sense is getting the Dulwich Wood Councillors and Helen Hayes involved to see what alternative sources of funding there are - CGS or similar? If Southwark would come up with part of the funding, then maybe TFL could find the rest?

So definitely worth engaging with Helen Hayes but the one thing that would make this happen more quickly is some cold, hard cash it seems to me.

    • Big recommendation for Stephen Viccary who has created a magnificent bathroom for us. Quality of work is absolutely top notch. We couldn't be happier - see pics.  Stephen is considerate and tidy meaning working from home during the work was fine (some noise - obviously, it is a demo and installation after all. He does not work on multiple jobs, does a full days work and does ALL the work himself - Tiling, plumbing, lighting (including lighting on a motion sensor under the vanity and in the shower niche - for night time visits 😉), he even changed the door architraves, sorted the badly cracked ceiling and did all the paint work. A full end to end service. Stephen's number - 07941 266 145
    • Highly recommend Dulwich Eco Gardening.  When he came to quote Saied said he’d give our garden back so we could decide what we do next.  Under two weeks of hard work from Saied and Mo and we have the garden back and can see paving I’d forgotten about. Not only did Saied remove our very overgrown greenery. Nature had taken over. He also took back to our fence line overgrown ivy, apple and pear trees and and dealt with a neighbours bamboo that had invaded our garden.  We are now going to get quotes for what we do next so those quoting will be able to see the space.  Saied has suggested someone to quote and will be coming back when he does in case he has any questions or they can work together.  I thought Saied would be a good choice and he was. Quotes from others didn’t leave me with confidence for the end result. That was never a concern with Saied.
    • Having a BBQ (fingers crossed) in 2 weeks and need a small BBQ for veggie bits and any spare benches or garden tables and chairs to borrow to add to mine. Any going? Thanks in advance...
    • Oh dear, hope you are OK, I've had it three times and it was worse each time, but not a patch on many of those who got it before they vac' role out. Not commenting on the discussion as I got confused many days ago beyond the reminder that Corbyn would not compromise and the harm that could lead to him, the party and regards Brexit pre and post referendum the country.  Starmer goes too far the other way at times.
