apbremer
Advice please!Charge on Sunday now 12pm to 6pm. I plan to drive into charge area at 9am, park the car in the street, leave it there without moving it until 6.30pm when we leave. Am I liable for congestion charge?TFL ignore my enquiry and their website is suitably vague. KidKruger
I?d say you?re liable for congestion charge (you were in the zone during chargeable period), but whether the cameras/system is able to detect your movements and conclude the same is the question.Would it not be worth trying it to see - pretty cheap for an entire days parking. And we?d all like to know ! exdulwicher
If you drive in outside operational hours and your car is then parked for the duration, there is no charge. Same as the ULEZ - if you have a non-compliant car but it's parked on the street or in your driveway, no charge is payable. Charge only applies if the vehicle is moving within the hours of operation.Hope that helps. Dogkennelhillbilly
I think it's a bit of a swizz that TfL charges you to sign up for Autopay. If it were free, OP could have just signed up for that, and if they got pinged, they wouldn't have to worry about getting fined. apbremer
I have now heard from TFL that if your car is within the zone and parked on the street, congestion charge is payable even if stationary the entire time. exdulwicher
I have now heard from TFL that if your car is within the zone and parked on the street, congestion charge is payable even if stationary the entire time. That's wrong.TfL website:https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/lez-lez-services-37309Extract from the page: The charges only need to be paid if you drive your vehicle within the zone. Parked vehicles are not subject to any charges. That's the whole issue behind reducing the hours that it is operational, that people will drive in at 6am, park up and then drive out again at 7pm. No charge payable. The info is on various London tourist websites as well eg https://www.toptiplondon.com/practical-tips/london-congestion-charge Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/303999-congestion-charge/#findComment-1566540 Share on other sites
goldilocks
It is only ?10 a year though and it makes it easier if you're not sure in certain circumstancesDogkennelhillbilly Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> I think it's a bit of a swizz that TfL charges you> to sign up for Autopay. Dogkennelhillbilly
trinidad Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> if you go over the red large c painted on the road> between operational times, you need to pay.Yes but you also need to pay if you drive within the zone during the operational times. It's not only if you enter or exit the zone. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/303999-congestion-charge/#findComment-1569429 Share on other sites
Lisa Taylor
Definitely a good idea to sign up to AutoPay to make sure you never get caught out. I had a few experiences in the past where I had forgotten or wasn't sure if I needed to pay which left me put of pocket but AutoPay makes it so easy & all done for you. CPR Dave
You still need to pay the ULEZ charge 24 hours a day 7 days a week if your car is not compliant, and you drive in the ULEZ zone, regardless of the CC operating hours. Don't get caught out on that! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/303999-congestion-charge/#findComment-1572030 Share on other sites
Lisa Taylor
Yep that's true CPR Dave, don't forget about ULEZ. It's absolutely terrible that you have to apply for a loan before you can drive anywhere these days 😡 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/303999-congestion-charge/#findComment-1572044 Share on other sites
