I did indeed give it a whirl. Yep not a bad effort, are they going through the thankless task of trying to get signed or is it fun?

I know some guys in another Irish band called New Vegas. They struggled to get signed, won the Dublin Battle of the Bands, plaudits in the Irish Times, but just couldn't get that lucky break.

They split up a couple of months back which was a pity as I genuinely thought them better than some of the success stories out there.

I still get to see the two brother's play over bongos and keyboard in a 'raw sex' manner in a little bar called Nico's in New Ross, Wexford.

I post one of their fabulous efforts in memoriam as it were.

(apologies for dreadful compression to get file under

No, Scott doesn't chase record deals, just does it for fun I think. He did make an album a few years ago, and sold it himself.

He lives in Tokyo and records in his spare room, and plays mandolin in an Irish folk band!

New Vegas sounds good but blimey you've compressed it to death!

Ooh, had a bit of a spree in Fopp today:

The Bees - Octpous

The Bird and the Bee - Eponymous

Laura Veirs - Saltbreaker

THe last is just terrific, love it, loads of influences Echobelly, Lush, Joanna Newsome a bit of Curesque guitar som eHowling Bells as well as the usual Joni Mitchelly bits thrown in

enjoy

Crystal, apparently she's done a couple of guest spots on the Decemberists if she sounds familiar

She is obsessed with the sea. songs on this album include Ocean Night Song, Drink deep, Cast A Hook In Me and Wrecking.

She seems to sweet to splinter someone's fingers.

Also loving The Bird and the Bee btw

    • I think it's a good idea and follows the example of other towns/areas. As it says in the article, the area around the main tourist attractions in Southwark, that is The Globe, Southwark Cathedral, Tate Modern and the whole walking route from London Bridge to Blackfriars, takes a lot of maintaining and it shouldn't be a burden on regular council tax payers like us.
