Thinking about the talk about conspiracy theories on the East Dulwich issues got me thinking, are there any that actually proved to be true?

A fun thread, but here is my starter. Winter '63 was one of the coldest in memory. At the time some said it was due to nuclear testing. Ha ha said the experts. Later it was found that particles sent up in to the upper atmosphere did have an effect on the weather.

As I said a fun thread.

I think he meant the winter was cold (I remember my parents talking about the cold of 1963) but we denied it was due to nuclear testing ..... but it was

I found a link for it to

Interesting, I thought it was due to particles in the upper atmosphere. When Krakatoa exploded that caused a bit of a nuclear winter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcanic_winter

I had a teacher once who had a theory on how CO2 was being mopped in the atmosphere. We even had to learn an equation as he postulated that there was an undiscovered free radical doing this. It wasn't a conspiracy theory it was bollox

    • Hi, does anyone have their up to date number please?
    • I imagine Franco Manca's business dropped off quite a bit when Yard Sale opened (though isn't Yard Sale delivery only?) But in any case, both of those are chains.
    • Thanks. I'll call them shortly as I could get there without the car.  That's good of Sainsburys! We've done the apple pie and tart thing, an ongoing muesli thing and the coleslaw thing - just not sure what effect all the sugars are having on our digestive tracts.  If we were in Somerset and had a press, I'd consider it. Can't be that diffcult, can it?
    • One time Sainsbury's delivered 6 bags of apples instead of 6 single apples which I couldn't possibly get through. I phoned Pecan in Peckham to ask if they would accept them despite their website stating no fresh foods. I must have phoned at just the right time as they were happy to accept them. Sainsburys gave me a refund so the donation was courtesy of them. Or you could experiment with all kinds of apple recipes and write a blog about it
