The council, though, has obligations to a much wider and generally more diverse group of people who would not likely use standard gyms. It also has good rates if you sing up and use DD so it is not that fair a comparison. I agree the booking system is now not needed but I have never found it cumbersome, just irksome because it allows folk to book and then not turn up. (I don't think people are routinely fined, just sent stern-ish letters.)

For anyone interested, there?s a progress report on the project to insource leisure services on the agenda for next week?s cabinet meeting. In short, it?s a big and complex task.

Hello! I swim at the leisure centre every week and find that spaces become available close to the desired slot due to last minutes cancellations - I almost always manage to get a swim booked on the medium or fast lane at 7pm/8pm/9pm. Download the everyone Active app - it's fairly straight forward, easy to use and allows you to book and cancel swims. Hope this helps a bit

Thanks Janet - I?ve been using the website which is just awful.

I want to swim fairly early in the morning and as I have a child to get ready for school it?s not really s9mething last minute I can arrange - night before at the latest, which I haven?t succeeded at yet!

The problem I found was that sessions don't actually exist. Booked junior gym twice for my son, didn't exist first time, assured over phone 2nd time it did exist and it didn't.

    • You don't need a gym to lose 10kg. Get a set of dumbbells and maybe a resistance band, find a HIIT channel you like on youtube and workout in your room, eat clean and go out every day. £115/mo is ridiculous. I thought they were supposed to be about £20 to £30 and most people give up come February anyway.
    • Point taken..I go 3-4 times a week and have done every week for several years however £115 a month is still a lot of money for many people (myself included) for a 'non essential' One can if one wishes excersise by running or Cycling, swimming once in a while. Gym membership IS a luxury...
    • Tawny owls are hooting in Dawsons Heights very near me. But very elusive birds. Sadly now on the amber list.  I have heard the owls every night for the past couple of weeks  It is good to know they are here. They are quite loud so I think they are very near. I have never seen an owl in the wild before and wish I  could  see them.
    • Hi, looking for a 3-4yrs ski jacket if anyone has one they no longer need or would lend if they want it back for younger siblings in future years! Many thanks
