Yes.....this topic was done to death in the Drawing Room last year and I provided plenty of data (much of it from the fire service itself) that shows it can accomodate the first 5% cut - due to a reduction in the number of fires and accidents over the past decade, and due to the fire service themselves coming in under budger the previous year.

Hear hear to saving the building. Hope that it doesn't become another cheaply clad block of flats like much of the surrounding blocks

    • This thread should be updated with a new title. "Is Keith Starmer Toast?"    I would say yes. This is as bad as when Boris Johnson ignored Chris Pincher's behaviour. And Starmer piled in very heavily on Johnson for that. If he doesn't resign himself now he is an enormous hypocrite and this will be very damaging  indeed.
    • Yep Peter Mandelson is officially toast.  But what now MUST happen is that the title of Lord and all the privileges which go with that should be removed immediately. It's a long way up the pole but it's an even longer way back down as Mandelson is finding out.
    • Christ. When the licence fee is under such scrutiny, this doesn't seem like a great time to spend cash exhuming this pair of swivel-eyed loons, even for comedy value. Spoiler alert: Boudicca Rising (!) left Tony.
