I've just waded my way through all 4000ish pages of Game of Thrones and I'm wondering if the TV series is as unrelentingly violent as the books? Because it gets pretty grim.

Also I don't know if Inkman could bear it if I started watching it as well, as he's just had to endure several weeks of me muttering "Can't talk, reading." and it's not really his sort of thing.

we don't have Sky, I've watched the first 2 series on DVD. Does Sky Atlantic have ad breaks (I know HBO doesn't)? Because I could not watch it with ads, they do my head in.

It's pretty violent. I read the first 2 books, but now I'm watching it I don't want to read it, if that makes sense.

'can't talk, reading' is my normal state. A couple of weeks back I was irritated beyond belief that Mr Oi wanted to spend breakfast-time talking. Talking!!! This is my reading time, goddammit! (Miss Oi was still in bed). I Was Cross.

Robb Stark. Obviously.

And Eric Northam forevah. A pox upon annoying Vampire Bill. And wet and wimpy 'Sookeh', which, incidentally, is the most ridicolous name, ever.

I can't really talk, my taste in TV crushes is pretty abysmal. This is coming from someone who watched every episode of Broadwalk Empire I could get my hands on and fancied...Nucky Thompson. Not Jimmy. Not, er, that Irish one (Owen, I think?). Even had a bit of a glad eye for Meyer Lansky. I am sick.

both if them?? That's just greedy.

I also stopped watched BH after Mitchell imploded in a cloud of greasy hair. (also, I just could not believe in his romance with Annie. At All.) I thought my heart would then belong to Kili but he was so blown out of the water by the diviness that is Thorin.

Bishop - my liking of Bill is definitely influenced by his hair, he is a vampire that can't carry of bad hair (season 2, I'm thinking of you). Eric, on the other hand, can carry off anything, me included.

Pregnancy definitely having odd effect on me, was watching a music doc on BBC4 recently and found Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin (late sixties footage) unbelievably attractive. In fact any hairy man in any of the footage looked unusually fine. Apart from that it's Hathaway in Lewis.

    • I’m currently conducting exploratory research into menstrual health education in UK secondary schools and would really value the insight of PSHE leads, Heads of Year, or pastoral staff.    The research aims to understand:   How the menstrual cycle is currently taught within the RSHE framework Where schools feel confident — and where there may be gaps Whether students are taught and  asking questions around the full menstrual cycle, symptoms, wellbeing and conditions such as PMS/PMDD or endometriosis How schools support students in feeling empowered to understand their bodies and seek help appropriately Whether education around nutrition, lifestyle, and menstrual wellbeing is currently addressed   The long-term goal is to explore whether there is a need for additional, age-appropriate, medically informed support on the menstrual cycle.  I’m not selling a programme and there is no obligation beyond a 30 minute informal chat online (Unpaid). All conversations will be confidential and used only to inform the research. If you work in a UK secondary school and would be willing to share your perspective, I would be extremely grateful to hear from you. Please comment below or email me [email protected] Thank you for the vital work you do. Best wishes, Emma
    • Nice topic and nice song!  1) Definitely top of Canonbie, looking North. 2) What used to be Francesca Cabrini school at the top of FHR. 3) Honor Oak playground, next to Camberwell New cemetery.
