I thought I would put this out there as my neighbour was a victim of it earlier today. This particular incident happened at a Tesco ATM in Bermondsey, but obviously it could happen anywhere. He had put his card in to withdraw cash. I am not entirely sure how far he got with that particular process, but the machine did not return his card. There was a chap standing close to the machine on a mobile phone, and he told my neighbour that the same thing had just happened to him and that he was currently talking to an engineer. The 'engineer' then said that if another card was inserted, a code would appear on the screen which, when entered, would make the machine eject the cards. My neighbour did put another card in and a code appeared, which he duly entered. No cards were returned, the chap had made a hasty retreat and my neighbour had lost a total of ?2,600 from two accounts. The bank will refund apparently, but worth being aware of these methods that are being used to scam. I used to think I was pretty scam savvy and that 'it could never happen to me' until I was duped by a quite sophisticated HSBC scam a while ago, so am now super aware that it could happen to anyone!

    • It was a reactionary post and inappropriate when talking about a real case and a real person who was harmed.  London streets are generally pretty safe.  Sadly violent crime happens from time to time, as it always has.
    • Do tell, CPR Dave, what the spiteful jealous stuff is - I'm intrigued.  Agree - Burnham is a top class communicator (polar opposite of Starmer) he'd do a great job of uniting the party. I still think Wes Streeting has the edge, though I'm sure he has more enemies as well.
    • This is a huge part of the problem.   Starmer is only interested in himself, not in what is best for our country.    There's a litany of stuff he's done for spiteful jealous personal reasons which has damaged the nation enormously. Burnham would be a much better leader than of the other dross left behind when Starmer goes. To inflict a worse leader (and PM) upon us for his own selfish reasons would add to the problems and be entirely in keeping with his woeful premiership so far.
    • I heard today there was a burglary in Lacon Road yesterday evening between 20.00 - 22.00,  apparently the owners were home at the time & thieves got away with electrical items along with the owners car!  Wtf!   Anyone heard anything else?
