Is anyone else concerned about the proliferation of Akita dogs? I?m a dog lover and not easily scared but I?ve started crossing the road when I see one. I?ve never seen such aggressive dogs. I saw one last night coming very close to attacking a dog on Lordship Lane. Same dog then tried to bite a passer-by?s hand. Owner then casually walked into The Bishop with his dangerous dog?

Basically it's legal, so not much can be done about it - regardless how concerned one is !

I am also wary about the tougher breeds (especially since a nasty incident on Goose Green in Feb), but am finding that avoidance, where possible, is the only remedy.

"not recommended with other dogs"

"Akitas are quiet, fastidious dogs. Wary of strangers and often intolerant of other animals, Akitas will gladly share their silly, affectionate side with family and friends. They thrive on human companionship. The large, independent-thinking Akita is hardwired for protecting those they love. They must be well socialized from birth with people and other dogs."

Obviously responsibility begins and ends with the owners. A dog is a dog. Is it responsible dog ownership to buy a large, strong dog that's wary of strangers when you live in a busy London suburb with small (if you're lucky) Gardens?

Got a message back within a day to say medication ordered from chemist.
