Planes over East Dulwich

Is it just me or does there seem to be a lot more planes flying (noisily) over ED recently....?

Was it always like this pre-pandemic?

There are a lot but no more than pre-pandemic as far as I can tell. This happened to me a few years ago, I noticed then couldn?t stop noticing it. And now I?ve got used to it again.

Might be planes going into City - they come in a lot lower than those going to Heathrow and when the wind is in the right direction they use Dulwich to turn before their approach to the airport.

Agree it?s nowhere near as bad as pre-pandemic.

It's definitely not as bad as pre-pandemic, but after nearly 2 years of relative quiet it can feel worse

I was sitting in the garden tonight and I became really aware of the number and noise of the planes.

I think I must have just forgotten how bad it is

The planes this morning are ridiculous. They're very low and coming over every 90 seconds-ish.

I moved to ED over the pandemic so don't have any experience of planes pre-covid. Was it this bad then?

Its pretty unbearable for this time in the morning.

A couple of years ago there was an extended, ongoing thread discussing plane noise. If you can find that you?ll see this subject was beaten to death over a couple of years, I guess it (the thread) went quiet when the planes did during start of pandemic.

Concorde used to fly over, from memory about 5-6pm.

You live in the Capital city of the UK, if you don't expect to see and hear planes, well quite frankly I'd suggest moving out of Greater London entirely.

Noticed this too but my 2 year old is obsessed with planes so loves it!

I also work in a hospital and used to air ambulances hovering over my office before they land on the helipad so used to the noise!

Yes, it did, it was wonderful. I used to love seeing Concorde flying over my garden!

When they withdrew Concorde, two of them flew over East Dulwich on their last flight, but sadly I missed it.

Especially as it was 110% for sure right over mine, as it used to make grandma Spartacus' teeth rattle in her glass
