best butchers in east dulwich.

Evening everyone. I just wanted to get some peoples thoughts on the best butcher in east dulwich. In regards to price, service and quality of meat. Also if they would stock bones such as knuckles, neck and feet so I can make home made broth again.

Not East Dulwich but Charlie at Flock and Herd on Bellenden Road can supply bits and pieces and his prices are generally lower than Mr Rose.

I also recommend the one opposite the Plough - the meat is really good, he makes the best sausages around and no ridiculous queues!

I am devoted to Kim Libretto on Wood Vale, but he tells people off for recommending him as he's already busy. Agreed that the butchers opposite the Plough are excellent too.

The Butchery is fantastic and i should know, i'm a butchers daughter. Best meat i've bought in the area by far.

My vote goes to Flock and Herd. They just won a load of prizes for their sausages in a regional competition and the steak is genuinely amazing

The Butchery opposite Sainsburys in Forest Hill stands head and shoulders above the rest. They sell rare breed meat, the beef is aged beautifully (even common or garden mince tastes amazing) and sell unusual cuts because they butcher the animals themselves. I often see stock bones (as well as ears and tails) and buy chicken and duck carcasses for my own stock making. They do a range of classes too. William Rose will be able to sort you out with the cuts you need barnesy - you may need to give them a bit of notice for some things. I also agree that the one at the Plough seems to have good stuff.

I'd recommend W.Bunting on Peckham Park Road, a little further but always well worth visiting.

Fella opposite the Plough is great - good value, no queues, will usually butcher what you want then and there if it's not available in the disPlay. The pork and lamb (I think) are from his own herds.

It's also worth trying the Smithfield home delivery service that Guy is offering through the forum. We have been getting all of our meat from him for the past few weeks and the quality is great. He can source pretty much anything, and delivers.
