In Praise of Pulling.

I'm not really one for bigging up TV(unless its The Wire) but I do like good well observed comedy and thats exactly what Pulling has been. At last a sitcom written for women by women that is sharp, well observed and at times painful to watch. The characters are beautifully drawn and all too believable and manage to make the age old theme of The Quest for Love and acceptance delightfully fresh. These ladies are almost frighteningly dysfunctional, vain and desperate....and did I mention that it was very, very funny? Try and catch it on Iplayer or something. It deserves a bigger audience.

Pulling is a fantastic show - I caught series one but series 2 I just overlooked until it was too late. I also recommend it

And yes I agree that it is a great show. My wife was actually surprised that I liked it. "Thought it was too girly for you." she said. Pah, just coz I spend most of my time watching the Simpsons and Mighty Boosh she thinks she can pigeon hole me.

'It's not my fault that the only thing that loves me is bleeding from its anus!' - if you've missed anything there's always the BBC i-player, and pulling does pee from a great height over the over hyped dross that is gavin and stacey. I find that bug eyed gavin a little creepy. I think one episode was filmed in the deceased Tulip cafe on LL, just to keep it ED specific. Looking forward to the equally perverse Peep Show on friday.........

I'd never heard of it until seeing this thread. Watched a repeat last night, and thought it was really good. Sort of a sketch show with an ongoing story.

Totally agree, its a fantastic programme. All my family are hooked, even my mother (she never ceases to amaze me)

LOL that was a funny episode!

I dipped in and out of the first series but this series i've managed to watched every episode. Paul Kaye is brilliant I hope he's is in the next series. It makes me cringe and laugh all at the same time.

As I said, only seen the one episode, but the opening scene / sketch with her on the loo doing the pregnancy test cracked me up! By the way, if we're talking quality comedy, the 4th series of Ideal kicked off on BBC 3 last night. I love that programme!

I know it's not a sketch show, I just meant that for me it had something of a sketch show style if that makes sense. Every scene seemed like it's own little shetch, even in the way it was fimed...

Maybe just my imagination, and I haven't seen much of it to prove my point.
