Bus experts, please

Can anyone explain why the no. 37 regularly changes driver at Nigel Rd., where there are no facilities, rather than a couple of stops along the way at the terminus where there are facilities? It seems daft to me. I can't help wondering if it's some historical anomaly

And sometimes annoyingly stop service at the same place, only to have to drive to the garage empty!

Nigel Road is easier to access the bus garage on Blackpool Road for drivers than using the Bus Station.

They're only making plans for Nigel (Road)...

The Peckham garage buses have different changeover points depending on the route. 363 uses Clayton Road northbound and the bus stop outside Peckham Post Office southbound. 197 is at the two bus stops where Asda used to be on Rye Lane and as mentioned, the 37 uses the two Nigel Road bus stops at Peckham Rye.
