Curmudgeon
multi-quote sites and individual sites default to a 'can't quote online, please call' stance. Is it because of the clay soils in ED Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3205-why-cant-i-get-online-quotes-for-house-insurance-in-ed/ Share on other sites
Jimmy Mac
they think your house will suffer subsidence. You need to speak to a proper broker not an online bucket shop. a broker will make calls and have industry knowledge. we used premier search - tesco, halifax, etc all refused cover. you need a proper expert not a call centre employee who can only go by your postcode.ps I am mrs jm, and sadly household insurance falls into my portfolio of tasks for the mac family. benmorg
v.high risk of subsidence around East Dulwich and Norwood. e.g. the clay subsoil under dawsons heights is flowing downhill, which is why half of dunstans rd is missing. You need to ring around a bit. Buildings insurance premiums in East Dulwich and Norwood are among the highest in the UK. I had no problems with direct line. Sonners
We had no problem getting insurance through Halifax and pay ?73 a month for buildings and content (including some optional extras) which I don't think is too bad. But then our mortgage is with them and I don't know if that makes a difference. eccentric
We're on Underhill and have a subsidence claim going through. The guy who did our schedule of repairs last week said he had 5 properties on Underhill at present.
