The latest science based, immersive theatre event from local Professor of Psychology at Goldsmiths, Fiona Gabbert, and the Forensic Psychology Unit. Fiona’s research has had an international impact on operational procedures via introducing evidence-based investigative interview tools and training resources to the field.

NCPD: Murder Investigation - An evening of detective work, drinks... and donuts!

The 80’s called and there’s been a murder… City Hall is screaming for suspects. The hotshot trainees of Detective Squad at New Cross Police Department (NCPD) are the only ones left to solve the case. Donuts will be provided.

We need you; the A-Team, to be at the scene of the crime on Wednesday 8th, Thursday 9th March, or Friday 10th March from 19:00 – 22:00 hrs (7 - 10pm).

This is what you joined up for! Time-travel back to the 80s and solve a murder that baffled the pros. An immersive science-theatre event combining the best creative and research talent Goldsmiths has to offer! All we need now is you, and your legendary crime-fighting ability!

On arrival you’ll be briefed by NCPD Chief of Police, who will provide you with everything you need for the evening. Gather evidence by exploring crime scenes and interrogating key witnesses, recording evidence in your police notebook as you go. We need the name of your prime suspect by end of shift! Before heading home, you’ll be asked to report back to the future to receive 21st Century scientific feedback on your sleuthing skills.

Brought to you by Goldsmiths' award-winning Forensic Psychology Unit (FPU) in collaboration with the Department of Theatre and Performance. https://www.youtube.com/@GoldsmithsUoL/videos

As with all prior FPU events, your evening will be packed with real psychological research! With results coming in live via fax at the end of the night. It promises to be an entertaining and informative night, blending the arts and science with just a touch of Old Spice, Babycham, polyester, piano ties, and 80s hits.

Dress code: Roll up the sleeves of your mac, back-comb your barnet, and shake those shoulder pads - come along as your favourite detective, crime-fighting duo, or renegade cop with a disregard for authority. 80s dress is encouraged, but not compulsory.

Hard and soft drinks will be available throughout the evening – card payments only.

**Two free drinks for each person on first night only**

Hi Alice,

It's always horrific when this happens.

The Forensic Psychology Unit, and espeially Professor Gabbert work actively and direcly with law enforcement agencies across the world, including the Met, to improve policing and interview practices through research. This is an educational event, and it's been in preparation for months. It is a fictional scenario based on an event which took place over 40 years ago.

It wouldn't be practical for theatres, cinemas, actors and educators to base their event planning on unknown elements, no matter how sad they are. I'm sure you can understand this.

With preparation for our latest immersive crime event (NCPD: Murder Investigation) well underway, here is a taste of our previous event: The Accused - The trial of Ruth Ellis

Tickets for NCPD: A murder investigation are here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ncpd-murder-investigation-tickets-530511422947?aff=ebdssbdestsearch

Friday 10 March is now sold out.

Limited tickets remain for Wed 8 & Thurs 9th

All previous events have sold out, and it will be a great science-driven evening of crime investigation created by world experts in forensic psychology!

    • Surprise, surprise. It didn't take them long, did it. This will be something of a test as to how much the council really care about parks and the environment. A footfall of 60,000. Are they mad? There is no way this park is designed for or can sustain that sort of use. Just had a look at the schedule. If allowed to go ahead, this will involve a large slice of the park (not the common) sectioned off and out of use for three weeks of May and the first week of June. Here's an idea, why not trial the festival in one of the other Southwark Parks, so the 'goodness' can be shared around the borough?
    • There was another unprovoked attack on Monday this week on a young woman nearby (Anstey Road) at 6.45pm. Don't have any other details, it was posted on a Facebook group by her flatmate. Pretty worrying  https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EGfDrCAST/
    • OMFG is it possible for the council to do anything without a bunch of armchair experts moaning about it? The library refurb is great news, as it's lovely but completely shagged out - the toilets don't even work reliably. Other libraries in the area will be open longer house during the closure. July is a rubbish time to begin a refurb because it's just before the entire construction sector goes on summer holiday, and it would mean delaying the work another 8 months.
