Townley road school restriction

I drove through townley Road during the time restriction, but because it was in the Easter holidays I thought as other areas were wavering restriction for off term time I thought this was also the case as the sign doesn't say , (At all times ) any comments would be greatly appreciated.

  • Joe changed the title to Townley road school restriction

I'm afraid people are going to keep being caught out thinking that when the roads are quiet in school holidays/Easter/Xmas the restrictions don't apply.

I was fined on Boxing Day which was a Monday. I had a reasonably constructive email correspondence with a councillor who seemed to acknowledge that maybe the restrictions were not needed as much during school holidays but said a change could not be implemented as the school holidays were not aligned.

I suggested that Southwark Could at the very least suspend the restrictions on Bank holidays as all schools are closed on Bank holidays but didn't receive a reply.

I imagine with the current run of May Bank holidays Southwark's coffers are due to be topped up.

It's what happens when you conflate school streets with other timed restrictions - it causes confusion and confusion is profitable for the council! 😉

It is utterly ludicrous that these restrictions apply on bank holidays.

Saw loads of cars heading towards a fine in Dulwich Village yesterday as they drove through the restrictions during the operating hours - oblivious to the fact that the restrictions also apply on bank holidays - an expensive assumption to make and one the council is more than happy to accept!

Townley Road is not a School Street.

Not sure how you'd put the entire school calendar on a street sign anyway...

Where did I say Townley was a school street....I said it's what happens when you conflate school streets with other timed restrictions i.e. when in some areas you mix school streets that operate during school times and with others that do not...hope that clarifies itfor you! 😉
