yeknomyeknom
6mths after giving birth to my baby, all my joints still ache. This really effects my sleep, even more than the baby does. I'm led to believe this will stop when I stop breastfeeding. But that's potentially another 6mths away. Has anyone found any solution or way to ease this? Kes
have you been to the doctors? it could just be hormones still as you're breastfeeding but worth getting checked for thyroid problems or arthritis which can both occur post pregnancy. I ached all over for months after my first baby, turned out I had a thyroid problem, went on medication - felt brilliant!Hope you feel better soon Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/32676-sore-joints/#findComment-649199 Share on other sites
keane
Hi there - I had this too, my 3rd baby is 7 months & I got really bad aches in hips and knees from about one month after the birth - I did a couple of osteopath visits to the vale practise and some hip opener yoga stretches that they gave me to do & it really helped. I breastfed until last week & the pains did stop before I stopped breastfeeding so I hope the same happens to you. I just stopped b feeding as baby taking solids & bottles now & I thought that I might be able to survey the damage & take stock of all the aches & pains once I'm not hunched over feeding all the time! Good luck & hope it improves. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/32676-sore-joints/#findComment-649233 Share on other sites
GinaG3
Might be worth getting your GP to check your Vitamin D levels. I had bad joint pain, started at some point after I had my daughter, I'd never suffered before. I breastfed through it for 2 years, only the last 6 months became unbearable with fatigue also. Vitamin D deficiency randomly came up on a blood test with at a unrelated appointment with a consultant.. Always worth being ruled out via bloods as its rarely checked in the UK, and is actually quite common. I just took high prescription only dose Vit D for a period until my levels stabilised then continued with prescription supplements as you would from the chemist. Hope it improves, its a horrible feeling. Especially with a young baby. treehugger
I had badly aching joints a couple of years ago, mainly in the morning, although not from breast feeing. We bought a memory foam mattress, and I sleep really well now. Not sure this helps, but it made a huge difference to me. Jessie
I'd definitely get Vit D levels looked at - recently been diagnosed with a massive deficiency and am now on superdosage pills from the doctor and feeling much, much better. One of my symptoms was aching joints. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/32676-sore-joints/#findComment-649731 Share on other sites
Sol
It may be vitamin D deficiency; I will get some tablets from the chemist but will also get a test from the GP Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/32676-sore-joints/#findComment-649905 Share on other sites
Smiler
I had this after both births when bf (have dodgy joints anyway!), vitamin D and pilates helped a bit, swimming, and I almost never weear heels anymore (boo hoo)!Certain foods can flare up my joints too, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes and citrus, odd! Saffron
I think those foods are all really high in oxalic acids, particularly if eaten raw. Could it be the oxalic acid making a pre-existing condition worse?
