David Goddens for Structural Repairs to Brickwork - Recommendation

Recommended Posts

The flats where I live have recently undergone structural repairs to brickwork by David Goddens http://goddenstructural.com. Dave was recommended by the surveyor who did a Maintenance Survey. The work included the process of inserting helical beams to address rotational cracking.
The whole project was professionally managed and stress free for residents. There was excellent communication at all times, respect for property and the given timescale upheld.

David’s long experience at undertaking this kind of work was evident in the high quality of the finished work.

Thoroughly recommend!

I also highly recommend David Godden’s Godden Structural Repair LLP. I had a really frustrating time getting quotes from several brick repointing companies to address the issues in the front of my house as they didn’t understand the structural nature of the problems.

Most companies only wanted to repoint the entire brick frontage of my house in order to increase the charges and they didn’t understand why helical bars needed to be inserted in specific locations. But David assessed the problems immediately and was able to address the issues reassuringly and professionally without wasting money on unnecessary elements and cosmetic factors.

I’ll definitely use them for further work in the future.

We had David Godden from Godden Structural Repair (http://www.goddenstructural.com) do some structural repairs to our wall - some heliforce bars inserted after cracking and movement to one of our walls. They've done a lot of work in the area, and were fantastic throughout. Really clear quotes, did the work quickly and tidied up as if they'd never been there. Would definitely recommend.

I have also used Dave Godden to repair cracked brickwork in my terraced house, quite bad cracks appeared on an internal wall 7 years ago and the repair he recommended and carried out has worked perfectly.

I found this thread now because I'm looking for a surveyor to work out where damp is coming from in the back of ours house and it sounds like a maintenance surveyor is what we need - @Pam50 would you recommend the surveyor you used please?

Some surveyors / damp specialists are linked to companies that do the remedial work. avoid - these people have one solution  which they apply to every damp problem irrespective of its cause.

After wasting a lot of money on a big company damp specialist with a useless guarantee I found independentspecialistsurveys.co.uk   - His comprehensive report covered everything from gutters to location of furniture and size of ventilators. I would totally recommend him.

    • You'd need to get a proper quote (or three) for instance removing a cast iron bath is a very different job from removing an acrylic one. Again what pipe work will be being joined into - matching old imperial pipes with modern metric ones is different from like to like, as is dealing with a copper or an iron distribution system. The amount (area) of retiling required is an issue, as will be the state of the wall behind the tiles. It may of course all be very plain sailing, or not. Have a first look at plumber recommendations on the relevant pages on this site. If it's all easy then 3 days work may be sufficient. But it could be a week if there are snags.
    • Hi. Can anyone suggest a plumber for the job below? Replace bath tub with a shower enclosure, putting pipes to showerhead behind wall, re-titling damaged/removed tiles Also any idea of the costs involved for the labour as we will buy the items required?
    • Aria came round to fix my tub drain when I'd messed up the seal. Came within hours, fixed the tub, and ran a bath to make sure it was okay. Here's where the fun starts. While he was over, I asked him questions about the rest of the plumbing round the house. I had just moved into a Victorian home that was previously being rented. Unsurprisingly, we found another leak in the tub and a drip in the kitchen tap.  He came back the next day to put a better pipe in my bathtub and replace the kitchen sink. Painstakingly figured out how to replace the hard-to-access kitchen sink without cutting through the wood panel with the help of his builder friend, Mark. Answered all my questions and clearly knew his stuff. All this right before Christmas holidays!
