In Peckham Rye Park ths afternoon and counted 6 coot chicks. Three "singles" each with a parent, and a trio of younger ones being sort-of supervised by a clearly harassed mother! I suppose there'll be the usual mortality rate there...

Of more interest was the island in the Japanese garden....two turtles head to head, courting perhaps? B) or whatever it is they do....I think she was shy and he was trying to get her to come out of her shell a bit....:))

Early this morning there was a duckling stranded in the wire netting around the edge of lake he was even trying to climb up it . He was getting stressed and so was his mother ,a young schoolboy who walks his dog with his Mum managed to rescue him and put him back in the lake .This youngster loves the ducks and was thrilled he was able to to help.It made my day.

Help! I have a very tiny garden which at the moment seems to be filled with a swarm of very tiny flying things - midges?

Every day they are there swarming around the middle of the very tiny garden.

I thought midges were attracted to water. I don't have a pond. Should I not have put water out for the birds?

:-$

I had a lot of mosquitos (gnats we called them) flying up and down in a column, every time I opened the door or window they invaded the place and I suffered bites. I then discovered an old spray can of 'Raid' and gave the column a blast came in and closed the door before the house stank. The next night another column appeared although now depleted, another quick blast from the can and now they are all gone, so now I can open the door or window without the risk of being chewed on, Hooray!

Since I was wearing my wellies, I just did a stream walk. Great fun pretending to be a kid when noone else around!

Think I saw marsh buttercups along the sides. At any rate, the flower head looks like a buttercup but it's a much larger plant than common buttercups.

    • How very dare you. Rest assured, if it were intended to be comedy, it would have been funny.
    • I hadn't looked at the actual posts on Instagram. That's sad, then. The shop opening hours are still shown at the top of the page. I  guess changing them wasn't uppermost in her mind under the circumstances.
    • I want to recommend the kitchen fitters Top Marx kitchens. They were excellent from the communication, the planning and the fitting. John did a fantastic job of of fitting and worked around and solved many of the issues we had with Ikea who we purchased from. John gave lots of helpful advice and support. We would definitely use them again for any kitchen work. I have added before and after photos.
