reeko
In my experience, hotels in Amsterdam are expensive and the rooms are small, so you might want to look a little bit further out to get value for money. I also had friends who stayed in a floating hotel, it was a barge I think. It seemed to be better value than the hotels. Whatever you do under no circumstances stay in the Heart of Amsterdam hotel - it is cheap for a reason. I was there for a wedding a few years ago and another guest (famed for her last minute and disorganised approach to life) booked her and her Canadian friends into this hotel. She did not realise that they specialise in renting rooms by the hour. Ahem. They arrived late on the night before the wedding - too late to look for somewhere else. They all woke up covered in flea bites and brought a nice dose of scabies back to Canada with them. I believe her Canadian friends have not been in touch since. ellieaness
Don't know if you'd consider an apartment - I'd have to do a bit of googling to find the company we went with but they were great, huge airy apartment right on one of the canals. Super steep stairs though tats par for the course. Or check air b&b. kat.hudson
The Posthoorn Guest House is incredible. On the same street as the Anne Frank house. A quiet area surrounded by beautiful architecture, restaurants and cafes that is also a short and enjoyable walk from the city center. Honestly, best place I have ever stayed and the host is so welcoming. http://www.posthoornamsterdam.com/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/33334-hotels-in-amsterdam/#findComment-654973 Share on other sites
