Sydney Carton
After many years of blissful silence our plumbing has started making low moaning and whining sounds sometimes like a low flying helicopter other times like a spin dryer. The toilet, the shower, everything, with the taps on or off. Thames Water seem to be all over Dulwich just at the moment. Have they caused it? Anyone else experiencing this strange phenomenon? malumbu
Maybe you've got a Poltergeist! But to be serious I can't see this being anything to do with your mains water Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/333364-noisy-plumbing/#findComment-1639631 Share on other sites
SpringTime
Without hearing the noise you're describing, it's difficult to diagnose. We had water hammer in two of our homes over the years. Noisy and a little disconcerting due to the volume in some rooms. If the same ailment applies to the condition of your plumbing then the problem might worsen (eg. increased noise, leaks) so I suggest calling someone in to check soon. There might be a simple remedy. I don't think it's to do with Thames Water. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/333364-noisy-plumbing/#findComment-1639638 Share on other sites
chagro
My central heating does this very faintly when switched on. When switched off there is total silence. could this be what is happening? dennyboy1
We're dealing with this too atm but it'll be specific to your house. Plumber says ours is probably a toilet seal that's gone (apparently the noise and vibrations can get through to other appliances/taps). Or you may have air in the system - not hard to fix if you can turn off the water to your house and look up a guide online Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/333364-noisy-plumbing/#findComment-1640768 Share on other sites
