Hi ladies, lovely to meet those of you who made it to chandeliers today. We spoke a little about meeting up again but how it's tricky to keep track of what's going on in terms of meet ups. I know the autumn baby club set up a Facebook page which can be made private so that it doesn't appear on your news feeds. If people are interested I'm happy to set one up? Let me know, Natalie x

Ok ladies, I'll go ahead and set up a group, if you can send me a pm with a link to your Facebook page I can then add you. I can only create a group once I have people to add to it. Bear with me, I'm a newbie at this! We can keep posting on here too all events it just might make it easier to keep track on who's who and who is attending which meet ups.

Have a lovely week all x

Thanks Natalie! I've just requested to join. I guess you have to approve me now :)

Lovely to meet you guys yesterday. I was dreading the Survey Monkey effort so maybe we can use some kind of Facebook poll to record availability for the next meet up? Laura x

Our fb page is now up and running, hooray! No need to send me private messages now you should just be able to run a search and I'll add you ASAP! Hopefully we can all set up events but I'm happy to duplicate meet ups on here onto our fb group page which will make it easier to track whose going to which days etc. Take care all, Natalie x

Dear Winter Babies Club,

My name is Lucy and I'm due with my first baby on 2nd January. I'm based in East Dulwich and am having my baby at King's. Would love to join your group and will seek you out and put in a request to join via Facebook. Look forward to meeting soon hopefully.

Best,

Lucy

Hello everyone

I've just sent a request to join the FB page!

I am doing a one day hypnobirthing course on Sunday in Waterloo. Rosie who runs the course has just got in touch saying 2 couples have had to drop out. Don't know whether anyone is interested in a last minute booking?

Hi all,

I would love to join the club, as am due to have my baby on 17 December also at Kings, but I'm not on Facebook... Would it be possible to post any planned meet-ups on this thread too? Sorry to be a pain!

Look forward to meeting up soon.

Emma

    • Post much better this Xmas.  Sue posted about whether they send Xmas cards; how good the post arrives is relevant.  Think I will continue to stay off Instagram!
    • These have reduced over the years, are "perfect" lives Round Robins being replaced by "perfect" lives Instagram posts where we see all year round how people portray their perfect lives ?    The point of this thread is that for the last few years, due to issues at the mail offices, we had delays to post over Christmas. Not really been flagged as an issue this year but I am still betting on the odd card, posted well before Christmas, arriving late January.
    • Two subjects here.  Xmas cards,  We receive and send less of them.  One reason is that the cost of postage - although interestingly not as much as I thought say compared to 10 years ago (a little more than inflation).  Fun fact when inflation was double digits in the 70s cost of postage almost doubled in one year.  Postage is not a good indication of general inflation fluctuating a fair bit.  The huge rise in international postage that for a 20g Christmas card to Europe (no longer a 20g price, now have to do up to 100g), or a cheapskate 10g card to the 'States (again have to go up to the 100g price) , both around a quid in 2015, and now has more than doubled in real terms.  Cards exchanged with the US last year were arriving in the New Year.  Funnily enough they came much quicker this year.  So all my cards abroad were by email this year. The other reason we send less cards is that it was once a good opportunity to keep in touch with news.  I still personalise many cards with a news and for some a letter, and am a bit grumpy when I get a single line back,  Or worse a round robin about their perfect lives and families.  But most of us now communicate I expect primarily by WhatApp, email, FB etc.  No need for lightweight airmail envelope and paper in one.    The other subject is the mail as a whole. Privitisation appears to have done it no favours and the opening up of competition with restrictions on competing for parcel post with the new entrants.  Clearly unless you do special delivery there is a good chance that first class will not be delivered in a day as was expected in the past.   Should we have kept a public owned service subsidised by the tax payer?  You could also question how much lead on innovation was lost following the hiving off of the national telecommunications and mail network.
    • Why have I got a feeling there was also a connection with the beehive in Brixton on that road next to the gym
