Kathryn
Just thought people might want to know.My other half got of the bus at the Townley Road stop on East Dulwich Grove coming from Herne Hill. When he got off the bus he was followed by five guys. It was by pure luck he managed to dodge one of them as they attempted to punch him to the ground, he then ran into the pizza place and called the police. It happened just after midnight last night along that stretch of road opposite Dulwich Hospital at a point when there was no traffic. Please keep aware and keep safe Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/33677-attempted-mugging/ Share on other sites
ianr
That's worrying. I'm glad he managed to evade them. Were they on the bus? Had he been using a phone or displaying anything they might be after? reeko
Hopefully they will be identified by their oyster cards. Good job on the avoidance, five guys is not what you want to be facing at midnight on an empty stretch of road. Hope he isn't too shaken. Kathryn
HiYes the police were called. They could not find the guys once they arrived. Although they were quick to respond they had long run off. They gave him a lift home and took a statement and as much of a description as could be given. As he had managed to avoid injury and the mugging no crime had actually been committed so nothing official gets reported. No they hadn't been on the bus they came out of Green DaleHe was wearing head phones but nothing else visible just carrying his over shoulder nondescript bagHe was very lucky Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/33677-attempted-mugging/#findComment-657276 Share on other sites
Treeviews
I'm glad he was ok & thanks for posting as a warning.Typical of the police to say there was no crime, so they don't have to record it as unresolved. But if the guys attempted to punch him resulting in him running away/avoiding the punch, that is technically an assault. They only have to take an action which causes fear of violence. The police should record it as a crime. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/33677-attempted-mugging/#findComment-657311 Share on other sites

Otto
Was that wens evening? I cycled by there about 11pm and there were a few guys (four or five) standing about on the corner near the bus stop and across the road by Greendale that made me cycle a bit faster though they were just standing about. Shame - hope he is not to shaken. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/33677-attempted-mugging/#findComment-657394 Share on other sites
chuff
A similar incident happened yesterday evening, near Denmark Hill station. A 16 year old girl punched in the head and phone stolen, guys drove off in a car. Not nice.
