SATURDAY 24 AUGUST 2013

HUSH HOUSE SUPER MARKET

BUSSEY BUILDING, PECKHAM

On the Saturday 24 August, Hush House is doing something new.

This ain?t no supermarket, this ain?t no farmers market. We guarantee you'll have never experienced anything quite like it before.

We're going to take something to which you've grown unhappily accustomed, something borne out of convenience, not love or taste - that daily activity where your choice is dictated and conclusions are illusions. We're going take it back to what it should be about, inspired people sharing their passion with others.

This adventure will take place in Peckham and we are showcasing independent, creative and talented human beings.

Food, drink, art, clothing, music and everything in-between. Don?t be afraid if you?ve never done something like this before - we?re not looking for seasoned traders.

Imagine buskers, sculptures, crates of vinyl; florists, cerviche, fantastic cocktails & homemade ice cream all nestled together between the two floors and sunny roof terrace of Bussey Building.

We have already hand-picked some of our favourite stalls and now we're searching for about 20 more and a whole load of musicians/poets etc to be exposed to a footfall of 3-5000 people across the day.

There are no upfront fees involved.

Apply before Friday 12 July at:

What's the something to which you think I have grown accustomed? I'd then be able to figure out why I'm unhappy with it.

Cheers.

"that daily activity where your choice is dictated and conclusions are illusions. We're going take it back to what it should be about, inspired people sharing their passion with others".

What choice? Who diktat come from?

If I conclude that a visit to your space would be an all round good thing, am I being illusory?

If I bowl up there as a punter, can I consider myself as 'creative' as the stallholders who've paid for their pitches?

But, hey a shill's got to do what a shill's got to do, right?

    • Is Dell Autos closing down completely or just moving? For whatever it's worth, for MOTs I've had good recent experience with The Test Centre in Deptford. They only do MOTs so they don't have any particular incentive to fail you and they usually have same day appointments. Open 7 days a week and late. https://www.thetestcentre.co.uk/our-test-centres/deptford-branch/ Obviously you would still need a "normal" garage to do servicing and repairs etc.
    • So what is the issue? You want compensation for the loss of value, or you want to expedite the matter?
    • No. What happened? I actually thought, considering it was what we used to call Guy Fawkes Day last night, the loud noises from  fireworks ended remarkably early. About 9pm? Maybe I just fell asleep and didn't hear any later ones. Do people actually burn Guys any more? Apart from at places like Lewes, where I believe they still have Bonfire Societies and burn effigies of various political figures etc.
    • The accompaniment to our "Christmas Pudding" aka Nothing-Whatever-Like-A- Christmas-Pudding last year  at The Cherry Tree was "brandy butter ice-cream." If it had ever been near any brandy, the brandy must have been waved in its direction from a very great distance. Same with butter. The ice cream tasted like bog standard "vanilla" from a catering tub. At least it did bear some resemblance to ice cream. Whereas the "Christmas Pudding" bore no resemblance whatever to any Christmas Pudding I have ever seen or tasted in my many  decades of seeing and tasting Christmas Puddings. Oh, and Cinzano Bianco. Bleurgh. My sister used to drink that. 🤢
