Re-stringing a guitar - services, advice...

Hi there

I have an acoustic guitar that needs re-stringing, problem is that I'm not that good at it. I was wondering if anyone locally could teach me a technique of how to do it?

Hey there - what exactly is the problem? Physically getting the strings onto the guitar, or the tuning?

Is it classical or steel string?

I'm crap at this - youtube has a million clips to show you how, whether it be attaching the strings or tuning-up (in any tuning you want).

It's an acoustic. I just make a hash of it every time - it never turns out like the YouTube versions I've seen. Any links to videos you recommend?

Could try the music shop near the station, South London Music. Is it an acoustic with pegs at the bridge or a classical where the strings are tied at the bridge? I occasionally have to re-string acoustic guitars at my work but I won't claim to be an expert nor could I claim to make more than an average job of things!

Just reporting back - was dreading doing this myself but in the end did it really well! I followed the video for dummies on YouTube and worked out!
