Large explosion noise in Peckham area this morning at 10.30... anyone know what it was?

Did anyone just hear a really loud explosion noise? It followed 5 mins later by siren noises but may not be related...

Heard the explosion sound and then sirens but could not see any smoke across the rooftops

i was there and the police didnt find anthing in the car park

It was an "operational railway problem" whatever that means..... (I had a reply from BBC news) apparently nothing serious.

It is possible that what you heard were train track detonators - used to signal a train where track work is being undertaken on the line.

use of these would be classed a 'operational railway problem' if, for instance, a number had accidently discharged together.

The noise I heard was a single loud Boooom. lasted 3-4 second. Like loud Thunder without any rumble.
