Yes, it's all true. My mum's neighbour said that his friend's daughter overheard a bloke in a pub somewhere talking about a secret cabal of local politicians internationally-famous sculptors who had used their "Special Powers" to block Waitrose's plans for a fancy supermarket on the 10th floor of that Peckham car park. Prime real estate it is...

You might laugh, but it's got to be true. Or a made-up "rumour".

Well why if the venue is so fantastic, the views so amazing that the location is not used by anyone else, and why don't/can't other money makers want to try the venue?

Maybe because 6 years ago everyone thought she (and the rest of the group involved, not just her) were insane to try and revitalise a multi story car park into a local art gallery/sculpture show space with a small bar on top. The site is so much more than just Franks. Or are you suggesting, now she's made the car park/arts space a success, the leaseholder should throw her out and run Franks as a high end commercial enterprise? If so, that rather misses the point of what the whole project is about.

Well said!

I've been going for the last 3 years and every year there are great new details, I especially like the new railway sleeper seats and planting scheme this year, also the bar on the level below is pretty cool. Just don't go on a mad hot day on Friday or saturday night. Saturday or Sunday late afternoon early evening is perfect, straight in, get a drink, soak up the view, sunshine and atmosphere and have a nice experience, then pop off somewhere else after. Job done!

It's noticeably busier than it has been in previous years but don't be put off by that too much as the crowd is spread out over a wider area than it used to be (not penned into one corner of the rooftop like before). Also, there's now more than one bar at busiest times so you can dodge the giant queue at the main bar if you'll settle for wine or beer instead of a cocktail or spirits. Your main obstacle is getting in to start off with, though if you time it right then you can avoid the queue.

The main difference this year is the arrival of the Overground extension to Peckham Rye that makes it easier than ever before to get to this part of town - and for us to get to other areas too, of course. The great thing about living locally is that we all have a head start on people travelling in from elsewhere so take advantage of that and get in first.

    • The birth rate in the UK has dropped significantly from 1.92 in 2010 to 1.56 in 2021. This has an impact on class sizes in state schools which obviously is magnified as kids born in these years come to school age. Looks like all those thousands of ex-private school kids will actually keep our class sizes at a reasonable level: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/education/london-school-closures-places-pupils-falling-birth-rate-b1158175.html (from 16th May 2024) Despite the Telegraph's best efforts, this is a non-issue.

That if you vote for 'simple solutions to complex problems' like what Brexit promised, you end up with simpletons in charge. Who then proceed to drive out what remains of any competence/experience to  create an, ecosystem of incompetency for no other reason than they 'believe', promoting the likes of Lee Anderson to party Chair and Truss and Sunak to PM. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?!..
