MrsAk
Hi,We are thinking about moving my daughter from her cot into an adults size single bed. Can anyone recommend a make of single bed which has worked for their child.Thank you in advance! srisky
I don't think there is anything specific you need to look for. The only thing I can think of is that some bed guards are tricky to use on beds that have wooden slats...I may have misremembered that, though! I think the quality of the mattress is more important, which will have an impact on comfort and sleep, and that can be bought separately once you find a suitable bed. My daughter sleeps in the same bed her dad used from the age of 9 to 23(!), fwiw it's a divan type with underbed drawers and we use the woodenBabyDan bed guard. acb2013
Hi, our 3 year old daughter's in a Jamestown wooden framed single bed from Mothercare which is easy to put together, has room underneath for storage boxes & has been sturdy enough so far to cope with lots of jumping! They are reduced on their website at the moment from ?180 to ?90. We got a John Lewis Little Home mattress for it which is very comfy plus a Babydan wooden guard for the side. srisky
Apologies if I misunderstood, MrsAk, I was referring to a full size adult single. I bow to the superior knowledge of those in the know when it comes to children's beds. Oxalis
Warren Evans has a good range of beds. I bought a second hand, full size single low "Deco" bed for my 2yo. It is easy for her to get in/out of and not far to fall. j-mo
We've just bought one from aspace which is a full size single but a bit lower I think. Anyway, it seems to have gone down well and he's sleeping in it just fine. With a bed guard on it for now. Undiscovered
We got a warren Evans one and they lowered the legs for us so no problems getting in and out (she can literally walk on!). She's been in it 5 months and its been great, no need fit any sides, easy for her to get I and out and if she rolls out she just gets back in. The people at the Bromley store are great. kemurf
HelloI have a lovely Warren Evans bed frame and mattress - in great condition, 2 years old. Very plain, got it for my daughter when she was 2.5 and it was fab. We changed it 2 years later as she went into bunk beds. please PM me if you want to see it/photos etcI think it is this one; https://www.warrenevans.com/beds/summer_bed/?fgid=9#.Ugp7lJKxd8EKate Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/34828-recommendations-for-childs-single-bed/#findComment-670051 Share on other sites
Belle
Another vote for Warren Evans - we got the single low one in blue (my son's choice!) and never had a bedguard. Just about to buy our 3rd WE bed, for our spare room - can't rate them highly enough - so straightforward, they just come and assemble and then go, all very quickly! Mattresses are super comfortable too. pebbles
Both mine have got a day bed from Ikea which pulls out to a double so their bedrooms can then double up for guests or sleep overs. 3 big drawers underneath as well which is always helpful :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/34828-recommendations-for-childs-single-bed/#findComment-670189 Share on other sites
