I don't think West Ham will do as well as last season because of the move. UP had a special, intimidating atmosphere, must've been worth 12-15 points a season, can't see the OS replicating that.

I think they have got themselves a potentially very good striker though in Ashley Fletcher. He was in front of Rashford in the Utd pecking order until he went out on loan to Barnsley. Wouldn't surprise me if he became another 'Pogba' in 4-5 years time...

I just had a look at their website out of curiosity and it's showing tonights game and the Juventus game as being sold out.

No banana skin, good result and the stadium full looked good too. What's your first game there?...

A West Ham supporting friend (regular at Upton park) went last night and surprisingly (as I thought he would defend it) he said sitting in the top tier was horrible- so disconnected from the match, no atmosphere etc.

Heard mixed from forums and a couple of mates - not all finished but people say:

- they reckon will be good atmosphere for big games

- bits still need fixing

- upper tier a long way off

- many views not bad

- policing will be difficult for big games as so many ways to get there plus open space etc!

I think so too, esp if WH are as generous with the away allocation as they were at UP.

I was thinking that this morning when I heard a bloke on the radio describing how lovely it was last night walking through the Olympic Park, admiring the boats etc. That's because there were no away fans there last night, just wait until the hordes of northern monkeys arrive :) ...

The other thing i've been told is that it was an absolute nightmare getting to the station after the game. Fans were kettled into one queue and one queue only to the station and it took forever.

My friend lives four stops from Stratford on the central line and from leaving the stadium it took him an hour and a half to get home.

It's a shame EP doesn't post on here anymore, he was very much against the whole corporate football club model, saying it wasn't about the CL, revenue streams etc, and that he would rather keep the then exisitng identity and ethos of WH even if it meant struggling to stay in the PL and occasional relegation. A few years have since passed and we now have a WH that has a flashy new stadium with lots of corporate boxes and sponsors, a club that has bought into the whole branding business model, a club wanting to be challenging for the top 4/CL and trophies. Just curious to see how he now feels about it all. Other WH fans on here seem to have accepted the change, certainly haven't heard any dissenting voices...

I had the same conversation with an Orient fan- who accused West Ham of selling their soul etc.

As a Spurs fan I feel - without wishing to sound patronising - that once you are challenging top 4/6/8 of the Premier League, your decisions as a club aren't just made on retaining character and atmosphere; they're focused on financial betterment, success, playing in competitions against the very best teams and atmosphere & character. For better or worse.

I think all clubs in West Ham's position would've bitten hands off to take the Olympic Stadium, at the price being offered.

I have all but given up on airing dissent re WH. When BFS was in charge I would have given almost anything for a change and at least we got that. I said at the time i would rather have lower league football of the right kind than PL the Allardyce way.

I also said a long while back that I thought the new stadium would be an atmosphere killer with a feeling of detachment for lots of fans but it's done and there's no point carrying on -

The one thing I really hate is the new badge.

They've been tinkering with it for years but this shitty little shield looks like something you'd see on a pack of sausages. 'Hammer Brand, 100% Pork'. And putting 'London' on it shows the way the owners think - marketing and making money out of what they hope will become a more global brand.

I bet there's a file knocking around Sulli-Towers marked "How we get the name changed to the London Hammers".

Still, maybe tradition IS all bollocks and just for miserable old gits like me to mutter over in the pub and a whole new swathe of keen young fans will love it because it's easier to get tattooed. C'est la football eh?

This gets harder each year. Can make a case for half a dozen teams to win it, so I'll follow Jah's lead and go with my heart...

1. Man Utd

2. Man City

3. Spurs

4. Chelsea

Relegated...

Watford

Burnley

    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
    • When I have more time and energy, I will look up the actual number of votes cast for each party in that election, rather than the number of seats won. I'm interested to see that you apparently  think that  Boris Johnson did a good job of "leading the country through Covid." Is your memory really that short? I won't stoop to calling Johnson and his cronies names in the way that you seem to think is appropriate for left wing politicians. At least the left wing politicians have some semblance of morals and a concern for people who aren't in some over privileged inner circle and/or raking in money for themselves on the back of an epidemic. I'm not going to open a can of worms on here  by commenting on the disgraceful so called "purge".
