Exactly... awarded (after the fact)... not competed for and then won. This blinged version of the trophy was not already in existence and just waiting to be won by the first team to etc etc... It wasn't actively pursued by all the clubs in the PL - the FA committee men just thought they ought to make a gesture to Arsenal when they looked like going unbeaten.

So, as I said, nice AWARD.

But you cling on to it old son (like every other Gooner I know - and I know quite a few). Distant memories are to be cherished (as I am all too well aware).

SCSB79 congratulations on your teams achievment (sniggers behind hands) though statying out of administration will probably proove a bigger challenge

Unique award for a unique achievement which will not be replicated in many a life time. As for clinging on to to distant memories, fans of other clubs have waited for longer periods than the Arsenal to win a title, but they, like me, don't jump ship. We follow our clubs through thick an thin, win or lose, that's what fans do surprisingly.

Failed with that picture B.I.S - a bit like your manager/team this season.

How's that investigation into state aid coming on down your neck of the woods? Would be very ironic if you lot were found guilty of financial wrong doings after all this time.

BLOODY TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR!

This is an article by Theo Delaney published today in The Sabotage Times and sums it all up for me.

Spurs: How Bad Does It Have To Get Before Classless Tim Goes?

How has it come to this? Spurs started the season with a hundred million pounds worth of new talent in the charge of a manager who?d just achieved their highest ever Premier League points total. By the end of September the team was nicely poised in third place in the league and scoring freely in the Europa and Carling Cups.

Last night Spurs were completely outclassed at home by Benfica a side that had to sell 70 million euros worth of players in January due to financial difficulties and actually rested several of its regular starters. This after a 4-0 humbling at Chelsea and a string of awful performances that leave the fans in fear of the ultimate humiliation ahead of Arsenal?s visit on Sunday.

Chief culprit, of course, is beleaguered Tim Sherwood who combines tactical cluelessness with a willingness to shatter team spirit in his efforts to blame anyone but himself. He spent the aftermath of the Chelsea debacle shouting loudly that it was all the players? fault, not his. Last night, perhaps realising that rubbishing the team can start to rebound on a manager when the performances just get worse, he turned on Jorge Jesus, the Benfica manager whose exuberant celebrations he took exception to. The irony of Sherwood accusing his Portuguese counterpart afterwards of ?lacking class? won?t have been lost on many.

But what?s the point of continuing to bash Sherwood? He got the job by accident and he?s not remotely good enough, these are the simple facts. His charmless, out-for-himself approach merely exacerbates a bad situation.

The horrific possibility now is that a highly motivated Arsenal side will arrive on Sunday with the scent of blood in their nostrils. It?s very hard to see how Spurs can raise themselves sufficiently to avoid being swept away. Would there be any point in firing the manager before the season?s end? Probably not. On the other hand, how bad would it have to get before the sheer scale of the humiliation forced him out?

Despite Sherwood having the brass neck to complain that there was a gulf in quality last night this Spurs squad remains of a high standard. A good manager ? even a half way decent one ? could get it competing again at a high level. At least that prospect is something for the fans to cling to.

I am not going to gloat but it's a real mess there. I really thought Spurs would do REALLY well this season with the money they spent and players they bought but it looks like they've basically blown the Bale money and they won't get it back in a hurry. I'd be mightiily pissed off if I was a Spurs fan. Levy must take some blame surely Jah?

I would agree that some of those new players will probably bed in better next year but it looks a bit of a cars crash at the moment.

Indeed it was. I thought Liverpool could and should have had another two pens, one for the clumsy challenge on Suarez, but his history probably went against him, and the same for Sturridge. However the dive when Vidic went in to challenge was awful.

I think the the ref probably thought about the first one he gave for Sturridge, probably realised he'd dropped a goolie and didn't give, perhaps to balance things out?

Our experience is they don’t seem to care. That’s the frustrating thing for us, if someone politely raises a concern at least take a second to reflect. Treat others how you would want to be treated.  I don’t want them to lose their job, far from it. But considering it could cost me a days work to fix any damage, I’m within my right to try prevent it.

Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
