Otta
Lambert must have expected to be a bit part payer when he signed. If anything he must be rubbing his hands together because I think he's now likely to get a real crack at the first team. And I think he's got what it takes, it's just a shame the years are against him. titch juicy
I imagine the club knew full well that Suarez was on his way when they signed Lambert and i'd be surprised if he wasn't told in the negotiations that he'd have regular first team football. Otta
Maybe, maybe not. But the Remy situation certainly suggests they intended, and perhaps still do, to bring in other options. red devil
I can't help but think Liverpool have done exactly what Spurs did last season, sold their best player/top goal scorer and so far have failed to replace him. Yes they've bought in other players, but are any of them going to replicate the 30+ goals which got Liverpool Champions League football? Lambert was bought as a 'Plan B' option, whether Suarez stayed or not. They should be looking at strikers much better than Remy, he's hardly set the world alight at QPR or Newcastle. If he was top quality he wouldn't have ended up going out on loan to the Toon, nothing to do with wage demands etc... Jah Lush
The difference is the Spurs signings had no Premier League experience. A big mistake on our part. I don't think Liverpool will have the same problems with their new signings as Spurs did. red devil
Maybe not with the non striker players Jah, but my point is they haven't signed anyone to directly replace Suarez and his goals, and that made the difference to them last season... Otta
Hate to agree, but I do think we need a top quality striker to replace Suarez, a genuine ?30m+ player (not an ?8m player that we over pay for).Sturridge is good, and can play and score without Suarez, but he can't do it all on his own. Otta
Hmm, we'll see if this turns out to be true, but Saints saying the two players will not be heading to Spurs.http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28542225 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/35029-football-focus/page/128/#findComment-769386 Share on other sites

titch juicy
liverpool are in the same difficult position that spurs were in- you just can't adequately replace bale or suarez. The ?40m+ players only tend to go to the very biggest clubs (suarez, rodriguez) or are happy at their current clubs or simply not for sale (muller, neymar, messi, ronaldo, ibrahimovic, cavani, falcao etc). There just aren't top top players available at around the ?30m mark. Otta
Oh, and Everton have got Lukaku, which is a great signing for them. They paid ?28m, which is quite the statement. I think they are going to get better and better in the next couple of years. Otta
You could be right, but I am thinking Martinez might sign a couple of lesser known players. We'll see I guesd. titch juicy
Everton just don't have money. I expect the Lukaku signing was on the back of the increased tv money. I don't see further siginificant purchases there. red devil
Martinez did well with the loan system last year so no reason why he can't do similar, probably has good contacts in Spain. Strong rumour that Utd might sign Vidal, would be very happy with that... Otta
Not the first footballer to get handy with a woman, but very glad he's spending some time in custody which will hopefully show him that he's not untouchable just because he's an overpaid footballer. The fact someone like SAF didn't fancy controlling him does say quite a lot.
