Happy with that! Really wasn't sure how today would go, but shouldn't have been so worried. Sterling looking awesome (well I say "looking", I've not actually seen it, so guess "sounding" more apt), Balotelli needs fitness, but sounds like he was involved in a positive way.

And regarding the penalty, concensus seems to be that it was soft, but it was a penalty. Suarez may be gone, but our defence is looking better, and if they can keep improving then we shouldn't need all his goals (baring in mind that even without his 30 odd goals last year we still scored more than all but a couple of teams.

MOTD. Looked like Henderson pulling the strings for Liverpool. If he hadn't been sent off three games from the end of last season, who knows.

Lots of good performances, it seems Brendans boys look decent again this year.

Spurs had their opportunities but nowhere near the attacking riches that Liverpool have and it showed.

From nout to two strikers - signed in 30 minutes of the deadline...."Things looked touch and go earlier today but Celtic pulled a late double swoop to sign John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City, and Stefan Scepovic on a four year deal from Sporting Gijon. Guidetti has been a Celtic transfer rumour since his 20 goals in 23 games stint at Feyenoord as a teenager in 2011-12. Now he?s on board, I?m holding out for news of Georgi Kinkladze.

Stefan Scepovic could have played his hand better over the last 24 hours; footballers are seldom accused of over-intellectualising their plans. Late interest from La Liga looked to have dealt Celtic a body-blow, but he?s ours now, and I?m pleased we got someone who was wanted by Spanish scouts."

Edited to add that we also managed to hold on to Virgil van Dyke on the day he was called up to the Dutch squad, despite lots of EPL interest. It's nice to see the club being big enough to tell a player he is going nowhere.

I know Diame wanted to leave but... Hull? Is this who Song was drafted in to replace - one of the few players who showed some class last year swapped for an unwanted/unhappy/shunned loanee?

ETA - I know he's (Diame) been a tad off colour but we've still kept bleedin Vaz Te and can't seem to shake of Carlton either!

The Arsenal do it to their fans yet again. We pay world calss ticket prices and are promised world class players and specifically a world class strike, and we get Danny fcuking Wellbeck. Fair enough then, if the club want to charge those prices and not deliver on players, I'll hold on to my hard earned cash. I'm already paying enough on poxy sky sports, and that will suffice until the day, if it ever comes, that we finally & properly replace Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira, Adams and Campbell. Extremely pissed off to say the least.

Really PD? Have some perspective

1 - I think Wellbeck will do us a good job

2 - as has been said many times - it's not a shop where you can just go in and buy the biggest names. There are VERY few truly world class players and the megabucks of City, Chelsea et al will invariably win out

3 - We have actually managed to buy some of the biggest names - pundits and other clubs was lyrical about Sanchez and Ozil - doesn't mean they always click tho

4 - you mention the invincible names - many of which were nobodies or failures elsewhere until they they became world class at Arsenal

being "extremely pissed off to say the least" is just crazy talk

Not crazy, just had enough of being told we can afford the best and don't buy the best. As Falcao, the only reason he's gone to Yanited is for the money, plain and simple. This was perfectly highlighted when he told a sky presenter that it was his "dream" to play for them. When the sky presenter said that he had said the same about playing for Real Madrid, he said "I have lots of dreams" Course you do.

what does "had enough" mean tho - where is the entitlement coming from?

being able to afford the best doesn't always mean you just go and spend it - you have to take a longer view - I read that Falcao's wages amount to 330k a week. And he's there for a year loan

I wouldn't be happy if we were paying that - it's not sustainable, and would create discontent in dressing room. So we could afford it but we haven't. Let's see where teams sit at season end eh?

Forget Falcao. If our scouting network is as good as Wenger claims it is, are you telling me they couldn't find anyone was nobody else available. Bony from Swansea would have been a good buy, pace power and a proven goal scorer. Not a world class player, but I'd have him over Wellbeck all day long. Entitlement? Following a club for 48 years, home and away, now and then, spending the money I've spent on tickets, programmes, fanzines, travel costs, and the commitment in time and passion, that's where the entitlement comes from.

    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
    • When I have more time and energy, I will look up the actual number of votes cast for each party in that election, rather than the number of seats won. I'm interested to see that you apparently  think that  Boris Johnson did a good job of "leading the country through Covid." Is your memory really that short? I won't stoop to calling Johnson and his cronies names in the way that you seem to think is appropriate for left wing politicians. At least the left wing politicians have some semblance of morals and a concern for people who aren't in some over privileged inner circle and/or raking in money for themselves on the back of an epidemic. I'm not going to open a can of worms on here  by commenting on the disgraceful so called "purge".
