Whilst we're still on the subject (and as there is nothing of any consequence happening in English football today) delighted to see Coventry City back at the Ricoh and drawing 27,000 on Friday. May be a 'home-coming' peak but I hope the crowds stay.

i think that's hugely significant. He bent that team out of shape in the world cup, should have been dropped but del bosque had faith in him for some reason. I guess if he'd clicked it would have been a masterstroke, but it didn't work out that way.

In fairness i think it was EVERYONE!!!! ;-)

Not written off by me, far too many outstanding players in the squad to be written off. As for Costa, maybe now he will say that he has dreamed of playing for Brazil all along, just like Falcao and Dobby Di Maria have always dreamed of playing for Yanited.

I admit I wrote them off by which I mean I thought their style (and that of Barcelona par example) of pass-pass-pass aka ticky-tacky was being confounded by teams who pressed hard and high up (half way line) and that this latter style seemed to be winning through at the WC.

Interestingly Hodgson seems to have taken note (or at least his young players have) given the pressing and counter attacking v the Swiss.

On another note - given the financial-fair-play fine QPR may get (around ?50m?) from the FL for their last Championship season - if they stay up they'll surely be able to afford it even if they lose their appeal - does this make that fine irrelevant for teams considering spending huge amounts to try and get into the Prem?

The old clich? of you don't become a bad team overnight must work the other way too.

I think Wembley would be a goer but I hate that place and I wouldn't want to be going to the Effeminates and I'm certain Gooner fans wouldn't want us there either so I'd settle for Milton Keynes even though its capacity is only 22,000. There is of course the Olympic Stadium...

We certainly wouldn't want Spuds fans there, I think they should ground share with Leyton Orient.

    • But I don't think that was what you meant, was it? But he can hardly be held responsible for what somebody else did! Just discovered I forgot to post the above  last night, and now it's overtaken by long posts.  I don't have sufficient knowledge  to counter some of what has been said above, some of which appears to be opinion rather than facts, so it would be pointless for me to say anything else.
    • I am sure our lovely Evri delivery team, who do a firkin hard job, take the time between drops to read the East Dulwich Forum 🤫
    • For every person like OP that moans their doorbell was rung and there was a knock on the door, there's someone else moaning that they didn't hear the delivery drivers. If you've ever done delivery work you'll know that loads of people's bells don't work. The delivery drivers probably goes to a hundred doors a day: press bell, knock door, drop package, move on. If you don't like delivery drivers, insist on delivery by Royal Mail where the workers have wages and a union - or just stop ordering shit online that's artificially cheap. But most of us (me included) don't want that
    • If someone comes to my house and bangs my door and slams my gate, I'd speak to them about it nicely and ask if they would please not do that. And then subsequently less nicely if they keep doing it, ending in reporting them.  We don't slam doors at home and I don't put up with that either. I can see us moving to a culture where we bribe drivers to be nice by tipping them, but we shouldn't have to. It's not necessary - does not matter if they are on minimum wage or not, or if society means that delivery services are outsourced or whatever reason anyone would like to concoct.
