Alan Medic
One of those goals in the clip was against Man U and is the closest thing I've seen to what I'd call a George Best type goal. Jah Lush
Jimmy Greaves could do what George did i.e leave four or five players on their arse, round the keeper and score. He did that a lot. He'd get all the tap-ins too. Genius. He was also George Best's idol. red devil
For obvious reasons Bestie was my boyhood hero, but no doubting Jimmy Greaves' genius, he had a magic left peg a la Maradona/Messi. TV coverage was very limited in those days, there must have been some fantastic goals scored that were never even recorded... I was surprised at how many quality goals there were, albeit over a long career. red devil
Yes I did watch it Mick. Yes there were some fantastic goals in the edit, but the point I was making was that there must have been some fantastic goals (possibly even better) that he and others scored, that have never been seen apart from those at the match... Jah Lush
He was two footed RD. I remember one goal against Leicester City (not in the edit) in 1968 where he left four players on their arse and rounded a young Peter Shilton that was as good if not better than the ones in the edit. Oh and he got a hat-trick that day too. His third of the season. Scored four in a cup-tie four days later too where the headline in the paper the next day that I remember clearly was Four Goals Can't Equal One Cap. There was a big push to get him back in the England team ("Jimmy For England") but Ramsey wasn't having it despite the fact he'd again finished as top scorer in the country with 36 goals that season. Mick Mac
The Telegraph had an article today looking back to a frozen Maine Road of 9 December 1967 when Man City beat Spurs 4-1. It was a performance that led City to believe they could win the league after 30 odd years. Ballet on ice. And I just checked today's result.... Alan Medic
City were good in those days but I seem to remember that United blew the league that year. May have been distracted by the European Cup. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/35029-football-focus/page/156/#findComment-791425 Share on other sites

It was goal average in those days Mick so a lot of maths was involved. There was a classic league cup semi-final over two legs with City that year I think. City won I know. Anyway my name is Alan here. I'm old. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/35029-football-focus/page/156/#findComment-791439 Share on other sites

Alan Medic
I considered it a bad move to sack him for a long time. Perhaps Shearer is me-like as I haven't heard his opinion on the subject. It's you WH fans on here who should be eating a bit of pie/cake.Did anyone see the picture of Steve Bruce taken on the tube yesterday after the game? Trying to catch a train to Manchester to get to BFS's party.
