She wanted to meet up for a Millwall Swansea bash at Wembley for a FA Cup Final.

Well that's not to happen now.

;)

I quite like Paddy Barclay as a journalist and I like this piece reminding Scholes and Ferdinand it wasn't always fantastic when they played for United:

http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/patrick-barclay-ferdinand-and-scholes-should-remember-what-they-achieved-after-failing-in-europe-a3133246.html

I dunno, I think it's easy to cherry pick from history to make a point.

Scholes is right, the current team is average. Despite failing in Europe in those examples Barclay cites, you couldn't say those teams was average. Utd won the CL in 2008, and made the final in '09 and '11, losing only to one of the best ever club sides. The current team is light years away from Barca now. You also have to remember that Fergie's hands were tied in the transfer market at the time, so when we sold Ronaldo for ?80m, we ended up buying Valencia for ?16m because there was ''no value in the market''. LVG has had no such constraints. As well as average, LVG has turned Utd into a joyless, souless team, something you could never level at a Fergie side, win or lose. For me, his constant use of 2 defensive minded holding midfield players, is the crux of the problem. This system which he's used all season tells me he's more concerned with not conceding than scoring goals. Perhaps he doesn't trust the defence. I don't think there's any coincidence that the best spell of football we've played under LVG, was last season when he was forced to play 4-3-3, with only Carrick in the DM position, using Herrera's energy to drive the team forward. For some reason he's culled the club of most of the attack minded players. He's either sold or loaned out at least 8 and only bought in two, Depay and Martial, both very young and inexperienced at this level. You only had to look at the Utd bench for the Wolfsberg game to see the paucity of attack minded players we have at the club. To me it's careless and a dereliction of duty to have let so many players go and not replace them. If he continues in a similar vein until the end of the season then I expect he will go then. He's got time and a transfer window to address these issues, but I'm not holding my breath, he's not known as the Iron Tulip for nothing...

Me neither!! I thought Giroud and Campbell had great games, and Ramsey is far better playing centrally than out wide. Probably be out next round but hey ho.

Yeah, credit where it's due. Excellent stuff from Le Arse last night. Having Ramsey back must be a massive lift for the team. Excellent hat-trick from Giroud and you'd hope that would put all those silly Walcott fantasies about being a centre forward back in the box where they belong.

I missed this and totally agree. Saw him at Upton park, maybe 4 years ago? Almost impossible for a defender to mark.

Manchester Evening News reporting that Ryan Giggs would be open to leaving Utd for Swansea job.

From a Utd perspective it makes sense to me for several reasons...

He can't be enjoying how LVG sets up Utd. His lack of comments speaks volumes.

With his close ties to Neville and Scholes through Salford, their criticism of LVG must be awkward for him.

Lining him up as Utd's next manager is a massive risk without any managerial experience...

Excellent performance from Spurs tonight and a Lamela hat-trick. We're now at long last starting to see what a player he can be for us. His work rate as with all the young lads who came in tonight was phenomenal. It goes to show if you really put in the effort and work hard the breaks will come. And he speaks the lingo too. Woo!

Walcott will never be a centre forward, striker yes but never a centre forward

Some interesting stats I learned today. Bournemouth players run more than any other team in the league. When they beat Chelsea, Chelsea ran more than they had ever done according to John Terry.

Injuries are the result of a previous injury and secondly due to a change in training regime for new players. That second one you would think clubs would work out. Every player is different and their needs are different. It would appear with all the money in the game that some clubs haven't worked that out.

Man United's goalscorer today was taken off because...........please complete the sentence.

And forget about the stats. Tottenham round around a lot too and I'm sure our fitness had helped but its goal that win matches.

and/or...

I could do this all day :)

Fergie always said that young players were inconsistent.

They also haven't learnt game management, how to play out a game from a winning position.

Arsenal on the other appear to be doing just that, another slick, professional performance...

Our experience is they don’t seem to care. That’s the frustrating thing for us, if someone politely raises a concern at least take a second to reflect. Treat others how you would want to be treated.  I don’t want them to lose their job, far from it. But considering it could cost me a days work to fix any damage, I’m within my right to try prevent it.
    • The SE22 Evri delivery family are lovely, and always say hello wherever we spot them in the area. We gave them a box of chocolates during Covid as they were working their socks off at Christmas
    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
    • The purge of hard left members that were part of Corbyn's, Mcdonnel's and Lansmans momentum that purged the party of right wing and centrist members. That's politics. It's what Blair did to win, its what Starmer had to do to win. This country doesn't vote in extreme left or right governments. That's partly why Corbyn lost  We're pretty much a centrist bunch.  It doesn't make it false either. It's an opinion based on the voting patterns, demography and statistics. Can you explain then why former mining constituencies that despise the tories voted for them or abstained rather than vote for Corbyns Labour?  What is the truth then? But he never got elected!!! Why? He should have been binned off there and then. Why he was allowed to hang about is an outrage. I hold him party responsible for the shit show that we've had to endure since.
