And he may even get you into the Europa again next year without all that Champions League kerfuffle to go through beforehand!

It was a general comment - the need for chants of a personal nature - hand gestures - abuse. All added together makes for a pretty poor environment. Not all the time obviously but I think these fans think they can get away with it in a football stadium, safety in numbers etc. It will change eventually.

The Kenny Burns comment was from a time when chants were generally less-malicious, but there was more violence. The exception was racism - it was a different world sadly.

Now the chants can be far worse (Beckham in the 00s used to get some pretty disgusting ones, yet society is a lot less violent.

Odd.

    • Callout for help from any local experts here. Looking to find out more about the history of the property on the corner of Whateley Road and Ulverscroft road (with the green glazed bricks). Now a residential property, i'm told it was a bottle shop in days gone (the house was built around 1900) by and i'd like to learn more about the history of the business that was once here - name, photos, anything at all really! Seems to be very little from open source research so i'm hoping anyone with history in the area can provide any insight!  Starting here before i contact Southwark Archives or similar orgs to get any information and pictures (any advice here also would be welcome). Thank you
