There was a video of one of the bars (I think)or general areas being trashed

on YouTube - they were playing Swansea but chanting against Spurs :)

Bobby Moore was never knighted. It still rankles. A terrible omission for a world cup winning captain, a gentleman and West Ham's greatest ever player, an England all-time great. Our country's greatest captain. It bloody pisses me off. The FA should have looked after him better.

Never mind the FA, West Ham should have looked after him better. Their treatment of him was shameful and no amount of statues or stands or advertising slogans ("moore than a football club" still makes my skin crawl) can wash that away.

What's this about? I'd never hear about West Ham treating him badly :(

I can't remember the exact details of the story but he used to go to games complementary (or at least the stewards etc let him in) and one day a hugely embarrassed steward had to tell him during a gamethat he'd been told from on high he could no longer come in for free and had to leave - think it was when Cearns was chairman. Disgusting - and just one example - the club just ignored him. So I agree with Maxxi.Compare this with say Bobby Charlton's treatment at Manchester United.

I think and hope things would have been different nowadays from both the FA and West Ham if he was alive - I think a Knighthood would have been a given and I'm sure he'd have a major role at West Ham, if he'd accepted it.

Ha, I was greedy and had us for a 4-2 win!

Great night (bottle throwing knobs and keeper-confronting idiots aside) and I hear Cockney Rejects are setting up to play - wonder if Quids is with them?

I know it's only a game but I shall really miss that ground (even if my recent attendances weren't what they used to be) - it was a special place. But what a game to finish on. Classic.

    • Here is the decision document. I’m sure we will all agree that it’s great Southwark is listening to businesses. “This request came from the businesses on Lordship Lane, informing Highways that they have large vehicles coming to collect and deliver goods from the business which causing an obstruction as vehicles are parked both sides of the entrance and opposite resulting into the vehicle having to block the whole road and cause obstruction.” “Officers attended site and met with the local business to discuss what would be the best solution to allowing the large vehicles to drop off and collect without obstructing and blocking the road off. As a result, it was agreed that double yellow lines will allow space for loading/unloading without obstructing the road.”   a Officers attended site and met with the local business to discuss That isn’t true, so long as the driver is actually loading (ie not shopping nearby).
    • Thanks very much, that's really interesting. I feel better about the shredded paper not being recycled now! And even better that I can get it out of the house and into the green bin! I will save a bit for future composting though  (and homemade seed paper, thanks Peckhamgatecrasher) x
