Syppox2000
Hi We are off to the natural history museum tomorrow. I know that there is no lift at south kensington but are the steps or escalator manageable with a pram and another adult? Otherwise I was planning on going to Gloucester road where there is a lift but not sure whether the walk is too far for a 4 and 5 year old (baby is in the pram)? I am planning on taking the sling but would like the option to put my baby down in the pram later in the day. Also we have dinosaur tickets for 11am - what time do you suggest we get there as I hear the line can be long? Thanks in advance ! crystal7
Hi. I took my 2 plus buggy to the Science museum last month. South Kensington tube station is fine, 1 flight of stairs to themain station and a small set down into the museum tunnel. There are loads of people around who will offer to help. If not ask. Lots of other buggies too. I would get there as early ad possible, in my experience the queue is long even before the museum opens in the school hols. Have fun! njc97
Steps fine with another adult I would have thought: set out from platform to ticket hall then even small set down to tunnel, or set out to street and then walk round to NHM. Stepless entrance to NHM is on Exhibition Road and generally has smaller queues than main entrance. Gloucester Road is about 10 minutes walk away: not impossible with 4 year old. Other alternative is get a bus from Victoria to Hyde Park and walk down Exhibition Road. Pamela78
I work in South Kensington, and if I take the children in, I find it much easier to hop on the 52 bus from Victoria which takes you to the North end of Exhibition Road. No steps at all, and usually nice and quiet during the day.But if you do decide to take the tube, people are generally helpful at South Ken tube as there are so many families passing through.I don't think there's a lift at Gloucester road from the Circle/District lines, but I may be wrong. I think it's just to the Piccadilly.I'd get to the Museum for opening as it can get really busy - 10am ish?Have fun!
